I’ve just got myself a pair of the MT90L boots. I’ve used Shimano SPD pedals for while and I – for the life of me – can’t get the cleats on to the soles of the boots since the bolts are too short and they don’t reach the holes on the soles. Anyone has had the same problem? And any solutions…?
    Thanks!

I had this problem – the bolts I got with a standard spd cleat were too short. So it’s definitely not a unique problem. Trying to remember what I did about it – I think I just went back to the LBS and swapped the cleat for one with longer bolts that they had in stock.

Have they thickened the sole or is the recess not as deep as the old MT90’s? I’ve never had the problem with mine (older ones).

screw one bolt loosely in without the cleat and use that to pull the sole plate towards you while you screw tother bolt in through the cleat but with cleat angled round to miss first bolt once its started to thread take first bolt out and screw it in through cleat – thats what i did after a lot of swearing

Thanks bigeyedbeans! That was great advice. I just managed to fit them… I did a lot of swearing myself.
    Thanks a lot!
