To be fair you got sunburn on site on Friday last year...

Be nice to see a few more able to ride the uphills this year.

I've decided on full enduro for this year.

By enduro I mean orange 😆

Racing Ralph's front and back, v brakes, 110mm stem. .... I'm ready.

Looks great.

I will be on my equally orange 92 DOGS BOLX that I rode / pushed / rode last year.

what's the crack with the Red Bull downhill section only being on for 6 hours?!

+1

There will be arm wrestles in our team of ten for who goes out in that slot.

Nice video of the course on Vin cox's facebook, Mud-x's will def be on my bike.

Over the course of 6 hours would you not all anticipate going out...? Admittedly you're likely to only get one shot, which is a shame with traffic and that.

Sadly no, we are a pretty mixed team and won't all be doing 40 min laps.

Any chance of a link?

First crack at Mayhem solo for me this year - been a team of 4 for last 3 years!

You don't need to, unless you're a team of 10?

90 minute laps will be enough for a team of 4 to all get a go?

I've decided I'm in, and it started raining (admittedly 100 miles away) as soon as I emailed Phil to say. Sorry if it's now miserable, my fault!

Noooooooooo, edit, quickly, no one's said it. I'm ordering some 1.5" mud tyres right now. Expensive ones too. Hopefully that'll balance it out.

The lap looks alright, still a few puddles here and there, but it is woods. Lots of double track, whilst I like the singletrack bits near the end last year I imagine any serious racers behind me were cursing them.

I did the last mayhem mud fest, missed last year, in a mixed team of 5 this year.
Looking at the course I may use the rigid scandal 29er 1 by 10 set up with mud x.
Full suss anthem 29er, ron/ralph may not be bike of choice.
I think looking at it, it will still be a bit muddy in places with all the traffic passing through.
Bike choice/tyre choice is always a subject that no one really likes to share.
But thats my idea. 🙂

I disagree, I reckon that would be a good choice, it doesn't look too muddy to me, bar a few patches, and those will dry with thousands of riders passing over them - bit like 2011 at Eastnor.

I used a SC super light 29er last year, total overkill, HT for lightness this time

I used my Anthem 29'er with Ground Control / Fast Trak last year, this year I'll be on my 29'er HT for much lightness and less clogability.

It's a bit like a ride round Delamere Forest if I'm honest

Doubletrack, grass, doubletrack. A couple of bits of Singletrack that are fun at speed.

It's a load better than last year - the dryness helps but more importantly the climbs aren't silly. With what is available it's good - it'll be extremely fast in places.

We are camped overlook a beautiful valley and a lot of red faces riders gurning up the final climb into the campsite.

What a lovely way to spend an evening!

47 minute lap, fast riders near or sub 30, fast & dusty out there, grassy bits hot enough to bake bread

Ace!

Looked great from across the valley at midnight, bike lights twinkling in the woods, the downhill bits looked quite quick! Wished I wasn't working and was doing MM instead, crappy organisation when you only live 1 mile away

For updates on times of the top teams in each category keep an eye on our twitter feed @singletrackmag.
It's currently tight at the top of the solo men and there's a couple of minutes between the top two pro men's teams.

Really enjoyed the course, all rideable but still tough over multiple laps, good mix of climbs & descents with lots if overtaking places. Of course the weather played a big part.

Heard rumours this might be the last one 🙁
