Double post f wittery
Sunburn on site today.
To be fair you got sunburn on site on Friday last year...
Be nice to see a few more able to ride the uphills this year.
GB
Last year's sponsored bike push got old real quickly 😀 Still kept my sense of humour though 😆
I've decided on full enduro for this year.
By enduro I mean orange 😆
Racing Ralph's front and back, v brakes, 110mm stem. .... I'm ready.

22lbs of steel twitchyness
Have finally found a forum that seems semi active
Semi active!? It's about the most active forum out there!
That's looking nice LMT2Mark!
22lbs of steel twitchiness
Looks great.
I will be on my equally orange 92 DOGS BOLX that I rode / pushed / rode last year.
what's the crack with the Red Bull downhill section only being on for 6 hours?!
+1
There will be arm wrestles in our team of ten for who goes out in that slot.
Nice video of the course on Vin cox's facebook, Mud-x's will def be on my bike.
wish his video was slower so we could actually see it.

Over the course of 6 hours would you not all anticipate going out...? Admittedly you're likely to only get one shot, which is a shame with traffic and that.

Sadly no, we are a pretty mixed team and won't all be doing 40 min laps.

Any chance of a link?
First crack at Mayhem solo for me this year - been a team of 4 for last 3 years!

You don't need to, unless you're a team of 10?
90 minute laps will be enough for a team of 4 to all get a go?
I've decided I'm in, and it started raining (admittedly 100 miles away) as soon as I emailed Phil to say. Sorry if it's now miserable, my fault!
Can't see the video on there?

Nick - read what you quoted in your previous post 😉
Aaah shit. Nothing to see here. 😳
Too late for a stealth edit too.
ITS GONNA BE DRY..... 😆
I'm getting mildly excited now!
ITS GONNA BE DRY.....
Noooooooooo, edit, quickly, no one's said it. I'm ordering some 1.5" mud tyres right now. Expensive ones too. Hopefully that'll balance it out.
The lap looks alright, still a few puddles here and there, but it is woods. Lots of double track, whilst I like the singletrack bits near the end last year I imagine any serious racers behind me were cursing them.
I reckon that's a "bog of despair" at 1:13! Men and bikes will be lost. Looks good though.
Stroud weather forcast is showing a 2-3% chance of rain for the weekend.
I did the last mayhem mud fest, missed last year, in a mixed team of 5 this year.
Looking at the course I may use the rigid scandal 29er 1 by 10 set up with mud x.
Full suss anthem 29er, ron/ralph may not be bike of choice.
I think looking at it, it will still be a bit muddy in places with all the traffic passing through.
Bike choice/tyre choice is always a subject that no one really likes to share.
But thats my idea. 🙂
That looks a lot less muddy than my local trails are atm, ardents FTW I reckon

I disagree, I reckon that would be a good choice, it doesn't look too muddy to me, bar a few patches, and those will dry with thousands of riders passing over them - bit like 2011 at Eastnor.
2:02 to around 2:07 looks a nice hill.
Apart from that nice 🙂
On site today: Its very warm. Lovely.
I used a SC super light 29er last year, total overkill, HT for lightness this time

When was Vin's video taken out of interest? One assumes it'll only improve, and that looks pretty good!
Vid on Monday early morning. It's been very hot without a drop since.
I used my Anthem 29'er with Ground Control / Fast Trak last year, this year I'll be on my 29'er HT for much lightness and less clogability.
It's a bit like a ride round Delamere Forest if I'm honest
**wonders if there's time to get hold of some Thunder Burts**
Vin and Marie in from a power lap just now. Covered in sweat and....Dust!
Awesome. Sadly I failed on the Thunder Burts though, should mean it stays dry!
How long did the lap take?
Orange 5 with Michelin XC dry for me this weekend, slack alice (456 SS) fitted with muds for just in case 😀
What Enduro goggles for dust?
Should be a strava route up.
Should be a strava route up.
Can't find via the search thingy?
I've got my mud tyres and arm bands 😀
There'll be none of that negativity in 'my' team Phil! I know, being Scottish, it's difficult 😉
Still putting my MM2012 purchased wellies in just in case...
Should be up shortly
Kenda smallblock 8s fitted. 😀

Filling up nicely. Still warm!
Filling up nicely? At 10 am!
Damn these people and their days off!
Looks like I'll be enjoying the corner of the field furthest away from the start when I finally get there tonight!
You'll still be nearer than I will when I get there tomorrow. 🙁
I'm going to sticker my van up as an St Johns ambulance and park next to the start line.
*wonders if its too late to book a trade pitch...*
Sat at mayhem, blimey it's hot! 😯
984ft of climbing in 8.2 miles. Nice 🙂

Aye, they've certainly not made it flat!
Off to start a "What size XX chainring for Mayhem" thread.
There was plenty of room when I was there an hour ago.
I'll be back in the morning, as I'm relatively local.
I'm not liking the look of the grassy sections - can someone go round and scrape it off please?
That thru the campsite grassy climb is soul destroying
Its a well known fact that everyone loves grassy climbs...
Damn it!! The year I can't do it and it's blimmin nice. Hope it's a good one.
Doubletrack, grass, doubletrack. A couple of bits of Singletrack that are fun at speed.
It's a load better than last year - the dryness helps but more importantly the climbs aren't silly. With what is available it's good - it'll be extremely fast in places.
We are camped overlook a beautiful valley and a lot of red faces riders gurning up the final climb into the campsite.
What a lovely way to spend an evening!
GB
Waves to Gee from the house over the valley! Be in race control all day tomorrow!
My sunburnt neck will keep me warm tonight. A dry mayhem, I'm actually dreaming this aren't I?
The sun is shining on the valleys, it's looking like a scorched! I'm off to bed, enjoy your event.
I'm in Huddersfield and just setting off now. I might even get there before the start if the traffic's ok...
47 minute lap, fast riders near or sub 30, fast & dusty out there, grassy bits hot enough to bake bread
Ace!
is there a live results feed available?
After Gee's comments above I'm glad I'm not doing it this year. Would have been fantastic at Eastnor though
Sunrise lap was special
Looked great from across the valley at midnight, bike lights twinkling in the woods, the downhill bits looked quite quick! Wished I wasn't working and was doing MM instead, crappy organisation when you only live 1 mile away
For updates on times of the top teams in each category keep an eye on our twitter feed @singletrackmag.
It's currently tight at the top of the solo men and there's a couple of minutes between the top two pro men's teams.
Awesome course this year. Was able to ride/climb four of my five laps. Really enjoyed it, but crikey it's hot!
I'm about to start sorting though 3000 odd photos..
Really enjoyed the course, all rideable but still tough over multiple laps, good mix of climbs & descents with lots if overtaking places. Of course the weather played a big part.
Heard rumours this might be the last one 🙁

Last one - if so I'm glad that I did it solo for the first time this weekend then!
BRILLIANT event.
10 laps for me. Ouch.
Recovering in KFC on the M4.
Last one with wiggle as sponsor. Not last mayhem!
Phew!
Now to decide my target for next years solo attempt!
