Sunny forecast? No wind? That makes my head hurt and has got to be wrong. Perhaps that's on the other version of Earth.

Can't work out how much different that lap is from last year?

It looks like almost all of it is different, its clockwise this time. The section names may be the same but look in different places.

Here was my trace from last year - looks broadly similar to me, but the devil will be in the detail I guess, you only need to move a couple of trails and it'll feel entirely different.

Other way too innit?

Edit: too slow.

The course didn't go into areas B&C last year. Even though I've bust my wrist I'll be there from this weekend. Actually I'm pretty much there most days next door! I think you get a good look at where I stay on the return to finish now!

Just for you:

Last years track is overlayed in turquise, yes it's not that accurate, but you get the idea.

njee:

I thought they made a big thing of the trackside camping this year? Looks similar to last year isn't it?

I _think_ you could only camp next to thr track if you were a soloist. Which in itself was teamist (as opposed to soloist - no? Ok, I'll get me coat).

Still tempted to try and find a team if the weather does look that good in the days before!

Were you doing it solo, or not doing it at all?

Have they closed the entries? I managed to enter solo a couple of weeks back, but had to use the 'female' category on the website and then get them to change it after (which they were happy to do). A mate of mine did the same. Might be worth an email to the events team.

Did it for the first time last year in a team and did 5 laps. Going solo this year could be a bit of an eye-opener! On the plus side I'm much fitter than last year and about half a stone lighter.

solo again this year, only proper solo this year as no wife or mum to tell me to htfu and get out the tent. I really want a preview video of the course like last year.

Yeah I don't think they'll bother, last year the location was new and they were keen to show it off. Fingers crossed though, looks to be completely in the wooded area now, not sure whether this is a good thing or not. I think (hope) the Kenda Koffin my be sanitized slightly as there were a lot of offs last year, and it became a bottleneck on the first lap.

Is there a lap length anywhere? Seen the maps, but just trying to work out how long it's going to take to get round (assuming it stays dry etc etc etc)

assuming it stays dry etc etc etc

I'd suggest that the "etc" is the key part there, the conditions could easily double lap times, so it's a fairly irrelevant activity!

11.2 k, cool shorter this year then! for mere mortals like me think I can manage another lap at that length. I'm VERY excited and can't wait got friday off work to get there for 09:00.

Nope, it was 11k last year, so basically the same, depending on how wide you run on the corners!

How dry is it Tang? I mean, really, how dry is it!? Not a Pat Adams 2012 "It's drying out and we've avoided the worst bits" report. 😉

It's drying nicely, not bone dry. We have had a lot of rain here last month. The forecast is good this week so fingers crossed! I've bust my wrist so light duties only :-(.

2006 was the last really dry one wasn't it? Can't see we'll be at that state, but at least not needing 'those' tyres would be great!

tang - I'm curious, what's your job down there? (if you don't mind me asking).

Got any insider information? 😀 have you had a chance to ride the course? - any immediate info in terms of how it compares to last years? Please say less hilly.

Cool! Although shame about the wrist guess you won't get to ride the course this year.

I didn't realise Vin was doing it again, he spoke to us a few times last year, nice guy. Total machine though, his short climbs are my worst nightmares 😀

Last year I packed an ikea bag full of tyres for all occasions, but then I forgot the bag.

I'm hoping it's dry enough for Maxxis Aspens as I hardly get to use em.

Before we get too bogged down in tyre chat (ged'it?!?) I did have a chuckle when I flicked over the merchandise page on the MM website.

£35 for a race jersey doing a great impression of an advertising billboard? Really?!? £35 could also buy you an unbranded version, in the colour of your choice, from many outlets nationwide...

I will endeavour to get some tyre updates. Its leaf mulch on limestone here and I ride Ralph most of the time. Mudx are a great tyre for these parts when its wet and I have left them on all year once (2007, the wet one). I'd say bring both as even though its set fair, this is the UK and its the lottery that all Mayhemers/Glastonbury goers face every year! Do say hi, Im the tall dark long haired guy in specs with a Micheal Jackson glove cast on!

I used the much loved Nic/Ralph combo last year, worked fine on all the rideable bits.Don't think Gatcombe gets nearly as cut up/treacherous as Eastnor did when it got wet !

I stayed on Rons last year (26" ones at that!) and while rideable I did find it incredibly slippy in places.

On a side note, although I'm not doing it this year & can't do it now as we have other plans.I do kind of miss the build up to it the week before, like constantly checking the weather, making sure the tent's in one piece & remembering to bring all thetother crap needed for Mayhem....Like a torch for the shower,I'm still haunted by walking in the shower in the dark that some dirty bugger had taken a dump in !

We got ours from here. Fortunately a local company sponsored them so they picked up the tab. 1 long and 1 short sleeved x 4 were about £360.00

C'mon guys, this isn't high end kit we're talking about here, or replica kit either, so not fair comparison. I could come back with Bikefest were handing out free T's, which is similarly irrelevant.

This MM kit fails my value for money test (and that's coming from someone who is happy to spend money on good kit), and obviously others will happily pay for it... Was just a bit surprised, that's all.

How do you know what quality the kit is? Yes it's more than Aldi kit, but it's in the ball park for Altura type stuff, and cheaper than Gore, Assos etc.

njee20 - you've just proved my point really. No I don't know what the quality of the kit is, because there's no info about it - nothing.

Ahh - whatever... I'm on a hiding to nothing here so I'll STFU, and feel all left out when I'm surrounded by everyone in their Wiggle MM jerseys.

I think they should return the Mayhem to Sandwell Valley where it began.

Central in the country, better trails than ever including some proper bike trails now instead of hashing it out of woodland so much better drainage.

Oh and it's 5 minutes from my house 😉

...what's the crack with the Red Bull downhill section only being on for 6 hours?! ( http://www.wigglemountainmayhem.com/the-red-bull-time-trial/)

Last year it was all race wasn't it? Surely all they have to do is leave the gear out a bit longer.

Have finally found a forum that seems semi active. This will be my first mm. Have done various duathlons and hell rider too.
If I'm honest as a new event to me I'm quite excited. We are a team of 4, and the kids are coming too so we got our own atmosphere with us even if the rest of the event is a bit flat.

Have numerous tyre options but the sun is out and it's looking promising, so I'm fingers crossed for a relatively dry course.
