I don’t envy NRW as they have to listen to everybody and manage many different opinions. For my part, they do a good job and it’s better to have a combined organisation who can take a holistic view of rivers, forests etc.
Improvements as I see it are replacing some softwood plantations (which are not big money earners anyway) with more diverse environments e.g. hardwood canopies, lakes, wetlands and more to increase wildlife and plant diversity. It takes a generation to do this but worth it in the long run. You could have a cool piece of singletrack through it all aswell!
