it's not about saving weight it's about having a biek that's fit for the purpose you use it for.
I could go dirt jumping on my 17lb road bike but neither it nor I woudl last long.
If you are lookign to build a dirt bike see what the pro's use – they'll have the strongest, lightest kit that they can safely use because their livliehoods depend on it.
30lb for a jump bike's not bad.
Why not just singlespeed it and save yourself a world of indecision?
I think you may have to accept though that a DJ bike (which I think is what you have) is never going to be really light and good at its intended purpose.
Unless of course it's just for parading round the carpark… 😉
Yeah i know its a beast. well the frame comes in at 2kg, Kona chute. wheels i have just changed, bars are in the works, forks are lightweights as it stands(actaul 1.9kg), seatpost, seat, tires, cranks, headset, seatclamp. i dont know what else to do :S
Give us a spec, and we'll tell you. Honestly changing bolts is a real last resort, you'll save sod all weight doing that, least of all on the jockey wheels!
