In bunnyhop towers we make do and mend as much as possible.

Our microwave (Sharp) is 20 years old.
On the right hand side, half way up, is a piece of shiny ‘card’. This has fallen off and a corner now torn off with age.
I’ve popped back the card with the missing bit.
Will I die if I carry on using this machine?

Getting parts for these things is hard (we couldn’t get a bulb when that went a couple of years ago.

Just pop the shiny card down the front of your underpants when you are using it and you’ll be good.

It sounds like you’re describing the cover that goes over the magnetron, if so it’s intended to be transparent to microwaves anyway so you’re no more exposed than you were before.

Edit – yeah, that’s the magnetron cover.

Ooh goodness I need to get in a scrub that inside, it’s filthy.

Provided you don’t see any arcing or signs of burning between the two pieces of card where they overlap, I think it’ll be fine.

    Oooh great. Thanks everyone.

Yes nbt, you need to scrub it. :o)

You’re going to die if you don’t carry on using it. What you’re asking is whether the dates of these two future events are likely to be substantially different.

Buy a new card, cut to size, live forever. Mayyybbbeeeee

Not sure why, as I don’t need one, but looked at @theotherjonv’s Amazon link. There’s a brilliant question from a prospective buyer:

    Link

Made me chuckle anyway. How on earth do you do that by accident?

Whereas Magnetodog was NEVER defeated. Resigned, maybe, to his fate.

Liking the video about re-animation frozen hamsters. Could I use one to de-animate next door’s cat?

BTW, I love the bit about him sticking a potato in it.

As above, the card is generic, and you can get pieces of it from eBay for not much money. Cut to size.

I ordered some yesterday from amazone and thanks to the free prime trial it was delivered at teatime. SHortly after that I realised that what I’d ordered wouldn’t fit as it wasn;t wide enough. Idiot. Larger sizes now ordered, to be cutt down
