Ok, I’m out and about today and only have my macbook air without a mouse and I am trying to write an ad here and put some piccies on the ad. I have the photos in my picasaweb account and what I normally do is use the right click mouse to cut the IMG URL and then paste it into my ad in the IMG tab. I only have a trackpad and can’t seem to do cut and paste of the URL on that !

Any help ??? I am really struggling with this aspect of the otherwise brilliant MacBook Air !

Command + X should be Cut
Command + V should be Paste

Command key also known as the Apple key, to the left [and perhaps right] of the Spacebar

You can set tap to left click & click to right click on your track pad.

Yeah, I know those shortcuts, but what happens is you normally need to right click over the photo and copy that, without a mouse you can’t do that and it isn’t the URL that appears in the task bar at the top of the screen.

    Anyone else ???

Two finger trackpad press is same as right click isn’t it?

Or use the shortcut keys once you have made the selection.

Edit – beaten to it! You do know about two fingered scroll and stuff right?

You may have to set up the two-finger tap as right (secondary) click in System Preferences. It’s certainly an option and I can’t remember what the default is.

Nope, not a troll, just loving the usual helpful STW’ers. Great bunch, always can find an answer to the most obscure shit on here !

    Thanks guys

Command + C should be Cut

Tried holding Shift while hitting minimise or using Exposé?

    OR

    Control + Option + Command + 8

[You’ll need that twice I bet – I know it’s changed in the last couple of releases of OS X so it may not work on your machine]

Hey, that works on my PC too! (windows 8 laptop)

Much slicker than using the right click.

Command + C should be Cut

Assuming it follows the same conventions as a PC, ‘C’ is copy, not cut. ‘X’ is cut (looks a bit like scissors, see?)

Well you’ve got me there. The MBA does indeed have a right click, pure technological perfection.

You can set it (might be default?) so a click on the bottom right of the trackpad is a right click too.

Ooops I read that as copy. 😳

CMD + X doesn’t work by default it’s even greyed out on the menu bar.
