Long Waterproof trousers needed.

Comutting trousers needed that are long and don’t rise and cover the over shoe. Tried a pair of endura gridlock in the week in 8 mile downpour and I got soaked. Sending them back.

Sometimes there are weather conditions that no clothing can fully protect against.
I’d just buy some nano flex leg warmers. At least you’ll be warm.
Obviously for commuting full mudguards help enormously.

Don’t bother with Montane Atomic; good water resistance, but not leggy.
ISTR some of the eBay GoreTex Army surplus ones are unfinished on the leg & thus could be suitable. May be less aero than you want, though.

Gore waterproof trousers are truly water proof, but once soaked, they lose most of their breathability. Rapha softshell trousers keep me dry and comfortable on a 7.5m commute in the worst of weather.

I absolutely swear by my Showers Pass Skyline pants. They are truly excellent. Comfy, warm and full waterproof. I use them for commuting in autumn and winter whether it’s raining or not and training when it’s truly miserable. I also use them for for general outdoor leisure use. They are close fitting but not tight, so they look more like a casual trouser than cycling kit, which for commuting is great.

Really can’t recommend them highly enough. One of the best bits of kit I have in my cycling wardrobe.

i was wondering about real world experience of those showers pass trousers, ta! i have one of their waterproof jackets and it’s awesome for commuting in manchester’s heaviest rain, so the trousers should in theory be ideal too. time to order a pair i think!

just replaced some old Polaris ones with Polaris Surge ones (CRC other shops are available) – full length with nice long zips, don’t commute so not everyday abuse but I’ll ride to gym do errands across the city whatever the weather and the old ones were great – if i get 25% of the life out of them and a similar performance will be very happy

The showers pass look good but still very conventional sizing – 32 waist has a 33 leg. To get a 35 leg you need to buy XXL waist. Surely there are more tall skinny cyclists than tall fat ones?

I’ve not worn them for riding but a pair of RAF surplus Gore Tex are the only waterproof trousers I’ve ever found that are long enough for me. They weren’t sized as long but seem to come up that way. For £15 or so can’t fault them. compared to other over trousers slim cut as well (but they are just a gore over trouser – no cycling specific cut or features)

too late to edit – not sure why but read as overtrousers not general commute in rain trouser so my suggestion not appropriate

I have a 32″ waist and a 36″ leg. Short of spending silly money on custom trousers you will have wet ankles and feet. I just carry spare socks to work

Sorry – no experience. The reviews on their other trousers don’t suggest that they’re long. The returns policy is good & free postage, so you could always order and see how they fit.

Still can’t find any. I found sum at decathlon yesterday but never had my size. Perfect length thou. They are discontinued and can’t order any in.

Received some RAF surplus shop gortex trousers in the post last night – £15 so i wasn’t expecting much…..

But – they fit – real good length on them with a 34″ waist – my legs are 36″ and they fit 🙂

I’m going to sew on some belthoops as the elastic retention system won’t work to well on the bike

Also – knee length Sealskinz for £15 – proper bargin
