Yesterday I had two bikes stolen from a secure bike shed (not as secure as I expected) – they are two one of one custom painted Santa Cruz blurs which are highly distinctive as one is bubblegum pink and the other nardo grey and both are a collection of non-standard after market parts.  The bikes have value but also huge sentimental value as my wife and I have ridden and raced together on these bikes for years all over the world.  Any tips on how I might recover (I know a long shot) gratefully recieved – I have alerts and saved searches on all the major online marketplaces and am sourcing any local CCTV I can but sadly think will never see again.

I put a post & offer of reward on stolen-bikes.co.uk

someone contacted me when a guy offered to swap the DH bike he was selling on FB marketplace for my stolen enduro bike (a cunning way to launder it really)  , the guy was suspicious, checked stolen bikes website and contacted me

EDIT, just seen stolen bikes has shut down, what a shame!  https://stolen-bikes.co.uk/the-end-of-the-road/

Sorry to hear that your bikes have been taken. I will certainly keep an eye out for Santa Cruz bikes advertised.

Could you share some details on how the buggers took them? Were there any signs of them checking your garage, or following you back from BPW etc? It would be good for the rest of us Gloucestershire folk to know what to look out for.

Sorry for slow responses here – not sure how they “spotted” the bikes – my house is opposite a pub garden so possible they could have been sat there when my wife and I returned from a ride.  The bikes were is a relatively secure garage storage unit from Asgard and the thieves came over the course of two days.  The first day they seemed to have gained access to the garden area via our garage and then they returned the next day and gained access to the garden storage unit.  I suspect they were disturbed as they stole a power cable for a turbo trainer in the garage but they did not take the trainer itself.   Weirdly I had taken a front wheel off of one of the bikes to repair the morning of the theft so the theives ended up with two bikes with three wheels between them.

Some more photos below – These are 1 of 1 bikes as both have custom paint jobs and complete bespoke builds from the frame up…
