Seems to be just the sort of thing that a party suffering from the Trussmania would do.

Sorry to come across as a moaner, but WE HAVE NO STAFF.

I love my job more than I can possibly explain, but NHS staff are dropping like flies. They just can’t cope anymore.

And to watch the Government delight in their ideology of suffering just makes me feel so powerless.
I don’t care what it takes to get these people out of power.
I’ll vote for strike action, but if it comes to it, we can’t leave people to suffer.
What’s left? Violence? I just don’t know anymore.

With a no opposition to represent us it’s down to the people to represent themselves.
    Striking is democracy.

    Striking is democracy.

It really does seem to be heading that way.  When you watch people shouting at protesters such as the Just Stop Oil folks and saying things like ‘why don’t you write a letter’ or ‘sign a petition ‘ or even ‘become an mp and change things’ they just don’t understand how broken everything is

    Oh mate, I know.

    But how can we strike?
We don’t have the staff to cover striking workers and the Government knows it.

If Tory MPs vote with Labour, they could lose the whip – meaning they will have to sit as independent MPs.

That could well be about to happen to a number of MPs, some of whom have already stuck their head above the parapet to say they will vote against the government.

That’s from the BBC coverage. Now if I read this correctly does that mean that if enough MP’s abstain or vote No and have to sit as independent could that trigger a general election?

    What’s left?

Not much more of this Tory government.

Just when you think things couldn’t possibly get worse for them it does.

Edit: The Tory chief whip has just resigned.

    From the BBC:

Massive row between Tory MPs, claims Labour’s Jess Philips
Labour MP Jess Phillips has just said in a tweet that there’s a “massive row” between Tory MPs in the voting lobby at Westminster.

This is worse than anything Bozo managed to f*ck up.

They can’t enforce a three line whip when the chief whip has just resigned.

    This is ****ing hilarious!!! 😂

    or lose the whip

What does this actually mean? From the post above it looks like the party has lost their whip (lol) but what does it mean for an individual mp to lose the whip?

Anyone had a phone call from the tories offering them the job yet?

I have ticket no. 99. I think I get Christmas week. There will be new bikes for all, all will ride them. There will also be a cycle lane building programme (no paint allowed).

what does it mean for an individual mp to lose the whip?

They stay as an MP but not affiliated with a party. So they’re independent.

I guess they could then join another party couldn’t they?

Wow, it really Lockheed off at the vote apparently!

In means you are no longer considered an MP for that party (although you could still be a party member) but instead are an independent MP.
Short term not sure how much difference it makes day to day. You would lose the party support and get kicked off the committees but dont know beyond that how severe the impact would be.
The main part is that come next election you cant stand as their candidate.

I reckon we’ll see a punch up in the chamber before too long.

    Full on banana republic.

From an MP that witnessed the scene:

I’ve never seen scenes like it at the entrance to a voting lobby. Tories on open warfare. Jostling and Rees Mogg shouting at his colleagues. Whips screaming at Tories.
They are done and should call a general election.
Two Tory whips dragging people in. Shocking.

@RustySpanner there’s a pint of creme de menthe (or drink of choice) and a man hug with your name on it here if you want it. Well done for doing the best you can with the little that you are allowed.

None of this would be happening if Her Majesty was still alive.

She knew how to keep the Eton toffs in check. Gawd bless err

    https://news.sky.com/story/labour-motion-that-would-have-forced-a-vote-on-a-bill-to-ban-fracking-is-defeated-12724777

So it looks like the fracking vote was hijacked due to the apparent ongoing collapse of the tory party?
Surely that can’t stand and we need a general election.

This is absolutely surreal and extremely worrying. JRM bullying (or ‘reassuring’ as he’s just put it on Sky!) MP’s through the voting hall. This has to stop, it’s ripping the whole country apart. Normally I’d laugh at the Tories ripping each other apart but this is beyond anything that could be even considered funny. But I don’t know how it can be stopped.

    We’re ****.
