You make a good point, so we should occasionally post links to other companies:

audis for cheaper than ling with better T&Cs

audis for cheaper than ling with better T&Cs

Except they’re not better. Both companies offer 14 day free cancellation. (Although neither admit it!)

The difference is Ling has to chase you for her costs (which it’s clear she can’t do), all leasingoptions have to do is hang onto your deposit and let you chase it.

YMMV but now I know the rules I’d go with the company that didn’t take a deposit every time.

    cheaper than ling

    Only they’re not.

If you change the initial payment and mileage to the same as Ling then it’s a lot more.

Those T&Cs set out the consumer law – the bit about them retaining the deposit is a standard part of that, a part they can’t possibly invoke. At least that’s the way I’m reading it, so maybe we don’t quite agree on that – I’m referring to https://www.leasingoptions.co.uk/termsandconditions here

If you agree that this is wrong and therefore they are not “abiding by consumer law”:

I don’t disagree with you 😉 Probably being a bit less bullish about this part of the law because crankboy is being a bit equivocal, but if he’s not sure then I don’t feel in a position to judge!

Here’s something to pay for the whiskey stetch this to 50 pages ponder over…

OP, say you find yourself needing to lease a car in the future, and ling is the cheapest for what you want, would you use her again? After all, next time you’ll be sure you’ll definitely be wanting a car…

    (Assuming she’ll let you, obvs)

Nope – £212 (vs £221 with ling) as mentioned above. What do you make it?

WHO ARE YOU? No-one knows. So less of the “proof” gobspittle, because if I say I am telling the truth in writing with my full ID visible, then that is good enough.

That’s brilliant! The maddest, crappiest thing I’ve ever read. What does it even mean? It’s like when the police caught me with that dead hooker, a live bear and loads of cocaine in my boot. I just gave them my name, proof of address and they said “Right you are lad, on your way. Can’t be lieing if we can see you”

THE OP WAS NOT THE CUSTOMER IN THE FIRST PLACE. HE LIED TO YOU ABOUT THAT.

HE WAS TRYING TO WING A CAR, USING HIS “BESTIE” TO GET THE FINANCE HE WOULDN’T QUALIFY FOR.

    sheesh, how many times?

    Not my area of law.
I’m not putting as much effort into this as I am ,my prep for a trial and trying to get my head round a complex appeal based on refugee status.
I do not like the term illegal as I associate it with criminal rather than non compliance. ( on reflection some attempts to avoid the distance regs are criminal offences.
I am consciousness I am a solicitor so a) I don’t wish to give overly positive advise in a social setting as I am not in a position to assume liability for it.
    b) I have even in a social setting professional responsibilities hence my view that the pissing on in court comment requires an apology.
Plus I want this thread to run and run.

Easy ling. I’m less against you than the OP, which is as good as I think you’ll get on here at this point 😉

    Urgh, fine.

OP, say you find yourself needing to lease a car in the future, and ling is the cheapest for what you want, would you use her FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME? After all, you’ll be sure you’ll definitely be wanting a car…

hang on, seeing as you are here. Ling, would you lease a car to the OP, seeing as he has never been a customer before, you’ve no reason to believe he wouldn’t be anything but the perfect customer, correct?

Edit- in the future, obvs. Once he’s built up a decent credit rating…

Ling – can I have a sweeeeet badge without answering your website questions? I don’t know the answers and you seem fun and slightly deranged. Also I haven’t been mean about you and promise to wear a badge next time I post a sweet vid of me manualling for all the losers on here who can’t do it.

hMMM, I haven’t had many legal disputes, so you are probably much more familiar with these legal disputes on STW than I am. I do understand some people here work as paralegals in their spare time.

The last dispute I had was ages ago… with Kempt Games Ltd. Chris Kempt tried to charge me for a game. Damn him.

    Business Weekly interviewed me:

Just goes to show, you can’t trust anyone, eh?

Please everyone, stop. I have work to do!

…and no I simply can’t close my browser. It would be like asking me to watch one episode of Breaking Bad a week – when I know the whole series is there, one click away.

oooops, I meant to say: “what an excellent point you make!” My finger slipped, so sorry.

No, I would recommend the OP to a competitor though, maybe the one that banks your deposit for safekeeping, in a gesture of goodwill.

Since she has been able to use stealth ads here and also seems very pleased that this site has generated extra revenues through click bait perhaps she should consider donating some of the profit from this to, say, the local Air Ambulance?

Just to show what a nice person she really is

In fact, Jim, I’d be happy that *everyone* who has taken part and enjoyed the entertainment donates.

I’d offer £100, if matched by a generous number of posters here, and also the OP, Geordiedick00.

I don’t include the real customer, as the real customer hasn’t made a single post here.

If a significant number of people pledge £100, I will also contribute that amount. The total WOULD BUY A NEW BLOODY HELICOPTER, if everyone dug deep.

Nearly everyone here is a solicitor or a barrister or high-court judge, so there is no question you lot can’t afford £100 each!

If you agreed to match what everybody else was pledging combined then you might almost look generous.

I may contribute if you agreed to that.

Is *EVERYONE* here so spitty and tight as these 2 above?

I’ve offered £100, if a few others joined in, and the OP, it would be great. What’s wrong with everyone?
