    Hi.

    Has anyone had any success running Surly Large Marge fat bike rims tubeless?

    What tack did you use to accomplish the task?

    Many thanks,

    Pretty sure Coastkid (check out his blog) used the split-tube method years ago – I’ve tried gaffa tape with limited success, but I’m not a tubeless fan as I’m a tyre swapper.

    I opened this expecting a new Schwalbe tyre

    @MrTricky.

    Thanks.  I’ve looked at quite of @coastkid vids for routes etc as he’s in in my local area.

    Will go back and have a look see if there’s about tubeless set up.

    Thanks.

    I just used electrical tape on my Fatbike rims (for setting up Jumbo Jim’s). It’s 5cm tape and I used 3 strips of it – one on the left, one in the right, and one down the centre. That has to be on top of any rim strip used to cover the rim cutouts.

    I have ordered some tubes – 24 x 3.50 – to go down the split tube route – and a fresh pair of Jumbo Jim’s.

    How much sealant are folks adding to 4″ tyres?  Stans, if that makes a difference.

    Mission accomplished.

    Started with camping foam – as per coastkids recent vid – and split tube.  Couldn’t got thr life of me get the tyre to fit onto rim.  Removed foam.  Mounted tyre.

    Track pump was going nothing.  Loads of soapy water, still nothing.

    Mates compressor and copious amounts of soapy water… bingo!

    Second one proved trickier to inflate.  Must have fluked the first ?
