Some happy news for a change!

I’m not a staunch royalist, but find those who denigrate the royals a bit of a disappointment, but each to their own (just keep your feelings to yourself 😆 )

I remember the wedding of Diana and Charles, when we were generally in awe of the royals. That day was a milestone in our lives, but the following two decades were pretty bad for the Royal family.

The nation’s support of this institution has waned, but thay aren’t all bad and despite criticisms, this elite family do bring in business for UK PLC. I’m sure they are good value for the country, despite all the complaints about 67p we each have to pay for them to conduct their lives/business.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could evoke those old days again! What would it take for you to think of the royals, as you did back in the 1970’s?

OH FFS! The BBC are stuck again, damn them!

It’s a news blackout for the whole day while we hear about soft layering in bridal dresses and who is going to be Kate Middleton’s fashion advisor!! AAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I want a TV license refund!

    I can’t wait until it’s all over!

Much as it is great news, it does seem to be very good timing politically! The top story this morning was big pay outs to Guantanamo detainees….1 hour later and all of a sudden that’s old news and we’re surrounded by a warm fuzzy glow!

Haven’t they been engaged for a while now – the only “new” news is the fact they’ve named the date……..as Spring/Summer next year…ish!

Sorry – just old and cynical!

Timed to distract the masses from the poverty to come and the potential protests and riots.

Timed to get the cash from the masses for the wedding payment and new houses, while there is still a bit of cash left to be taken.

Timed to beat the Olympics so maximum publicity is obtained before eclipse by the sports coverage.

Good distracting publicity for the Con/Libs

Good publicly for the royal family, which they must be pretty desperate for by now.

    I prefer ‘realist’ to ‘cynic’.

Now we have months of newspaper hell over ‘what dress’, ‘they (we the public) are buying a new house for the happy couple’ and ‘how long before the first kid’.

    I cant wait… 🙁

My sister’s getting married next year too. I don’t get an extra day off work for that though.

but find those who denigrate the royals a bit of a disappointment,

Why would it be a disappointment?
The marriage does not add any validity to the Royal family, it does not add any additional weight to the Royalist argument. It’s just two people getting married.

The good thing is I hopefully take a day off and eat swan.

Hmm – don’t get me wrong. I am a “royalist” and think they do add a lot to the country (including tourism). I also think a royal wedding is potentially a great occasion etc etc.

I just feel this reinforcing of old news is a bit politically motivated.

Hmmm. Hope I have a better day of it than the last time. On the day of Charles and Di’s wedding, I got bored, went down to the living room and spent a happy ten minutes trying to see if I could rock back on an armchair, the same way I did with my school chair.

I managed, but fell backwards, smashing through an 8’x4′ picture window, and then fell a further six feet into the garden. No spangles, quattro, or indeed Red Devil gobstoppers for me for a very long time 🙁

The good news is that much of the countryside will be very empty so start planning rides/walks now 😀

I don’t have a royal family and am subject to no one so the news really does not affect me.

    All the best to them

I am however chuckling at the clip the BBC keep showing of the Safari holiday. The Black Rhino is doing a great big dump…Ahhh how romantic

oh oh oh what tyres for riding while there is a royal wedding going on.

If I’m not the father of the bride why am I paying for the wedding?

Let’s hope he doesn’t end up telling the one he REALLY wants that he’d like to be a suppository for her front bottom, like his dad…

I was on holiday, in France, with my folks when Chas and Di got married and by the state of the French national papers you’d think it was their monarchy getting hitched.

The French had it right though. They got to celebrate the royal wedding (or not) without the expense and from a comfortable distance.

Those in the UK who are into that sort of thing should choose a foreign royal family they like the look of and celebrate their weddings instead.

Yes, the Royal Family is great for British tourism.

Just like the Belgian, Dutch, Swedish royal families are. That’s exactly why hundred of thousands of British & American tourists swan off to those countries every year: for the pageantry & history.

    Or perhaps not.
They are a parasitic waste of space, and as for Harry and his 2 dads…

Di who? was how I felt about that and I have no interest whatever in the latest victim of the royal publicity train. Is the dreadful Clifford bloke involved?

yayyeeee, I love the Royal family, I can’t wait. She is about the same age as me and we have both had relationships of the same length so I’m hoping it might spark up my other half’s romantic side….. 😀

and double yayeee DAY OFF TOO whoop whoop. Still think I’d prefer the ginger though, he looks good fun 🙂

I even find the thread title nauseating and know I should avoid any news media for the next few days… I’m sure they’re nice people etc, I just have no interest in them and less interest in cretinous media feeding frenzies and moronic talking head footage of workmen in St Andrews etc…

great news, some unelected scrounging **** getting married at the tax payers expense, at a time of massive national debt, so they can sire more little parasites to drain the country further. Flippin great, where’s me

If it makes people happy then keep them.
