Anyone using a K-Edge chain catcher or similar?

How easy to fit/how well does it work/any alternatives etc?

I’ve got one on my roadie, handy for those moments on a big climb when you miss shift thinking you are still in the big dog.

Mine was off eBay “Alero” brand whatever that is haha

Aye, I suspect it’ll be handy for the mile-long cobbled descent to home that serves as a stress test for everything screwed to the bike, too (and where the chain went off the inside yesterday) 😛

I have one on my cyclo cross bike. Barely know its there and have never dropped a chain.

    Seems pretty good

I’ve a token one on the road bike, does what it said on the tin, no problems.

Got one on my mojo hd. Frame has a gap between inner ring and pivot and the chain had an annoying habit of finding this gap on downshifts. Never had a problem since fitting one of these. Expensive for what if is though, but it’ll last a lifetime.

Got one on the posh road bike (braze on) as I didn’t fancy a wayward chain taking a chunk out of the carbon.

The new K-edge ones have an angle adjust feature that is very clever and make them much easier to set up perfectly. Used to have a rotor one and, whilst it was beautifully made, the K-edge knocks if for six in terms of design.

Which one do people use? BB mount or clamp on?

Also, would things like a Deda Dog Fang work?

Got one on the road bike which attaches to the mech. I’ve forgotten it even exists which, I assume, is a good thing as it means it works.

Just on the carbon road bikes, the one that attaches to the mech mount, fit and forget stuff. 1x on the mtb now so no need.

Should do if you’ve got a round tube, the newer designs like k-edge, token etc are really aimed at carbon frames with direct mount mechs.

N-gear jump stop is another alternative and looks a bit more Gnarrrrr than the Deda version, untill N/W rings came ou,t that and a bashring was the default lightweight chain device.

Standard issue on both my carbon road bikes. Buy the Pro version that integrates with braze on mechs using a longer bolt. As said, fit and forget. Set the catcher as close to the inner ring as you can. Pick an accenting colour that matches your Garmin mount!
