…not sure why all the hype for a sex offender.
Married his 13 year old cousin in 1952, obviously its was okay to do that then, specially when you were an up and coming star…

    Not that sorry…

Not seeing a lot of “hype”.

Seeing quite a lot of thorough and detailed coverage of the very troubled life of a major figure in rock music.

It wasn’t OK, which is why his career tanked after his marriage became public knowledge.

BBC obituary is pretty warts and all, rather than hype

Yes, as desperatebicycle so accurately puts it, he was one of the greats of rock’n’roll. Extraordinary performer:

Wasn’t he on the list in another thread of people you thought were dead but aren’t? 😱

Yes he was. Before and after his death. Appropriately.

Didn’t it come to a head with Jerry when he toured the UK and couldn’t sleep in the same hotel room as his 13 year old wife as she was a minor?

If you think he was bad, then you’d better not read up on David Bowie, Jimmy Paige, Micheal Jackson, Bill Wyman, Elvis, Gary Glitter, Prince or R Kelly.

The Beatles also have a few stories about their indiscretions.

The Guardian article was pretty warts and all, did not sound like a nice man even if he was very talented.

Child bride, “accidentally” shooting his bass player, domestic abuse allegations from all his wives and lingering suspicion of murdering wife No.5 when she somehow turned up dead after 77 days of marriage…
