Likehim/Loath him, he speaks it like a lot of people see it.

Easy money for the Beeb IMO, publicity they can easily deal with, add’s Kudos to a programme that millions love and watch, easy on the eye/ears and entertaining to boot. He’s a far better presenter than a lot more overpaid eejots the Beeb have on so called “intelectual” programmes.

He’s always been the same, sure you’ve gotten used to his “patter” by now.. well you should have.

He’s trying to sell DVDs by spouting a line which was very over-rehearsed, and designed to get people talking. I guess if you watch the One Show you deserve to have to put up with people like Clarkson advertising their latest tat.

On a positive note, and apologies if someone has already posted it, it means this can be linked:

Clarkson thinks he’s a comedian. Trouble is he’s just not funny. And like most other unfunny comedians he’s easy to ignore.

    Actually LOLing at this debacle

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15977813

Suing on what basis exactly? I’m no lawyer, but what grounds would you sue based on his comments, and where exactly do you draw the line?

He’s said something daft. Should just leave it at that really.

“He’s not even a real hamster” Genius

Funnily enough I like Stewart Lee and Top Gear.

Clarkson is pretty harmless really, his opinions are designed to catch out two types of idiots. Idiots who take him seriously and agree with him and idiots who take him seriously and are outraged.

The Unions are taking legal action against him!

    For the love of god!

Therefore effectively scotching any rumours that they’re a bunch of whining, prissy, permanently-outraged lefty pussies with no sense of humour 🙄

“He is the joke. He is the old dog in the corner that farts during dinner.”

    Oh so true…

Because I would laugh in the first instance, then gag a little on the bad smell that’s left lingering around.

    Clarkson’s is a bit of a bell-end though.
I have a feeling that if you’re whole persona is “tongue in cheek”, then it’s no longer tongue in cheek, it’s just who you are.
All the “he’s just joking”, it’s just “tongue in cheek” reminds me a bit of the same justification for why some people found Bernard Manning funny.

Mind you I don’t find Stewart Lee that funny either :), reminds me a bit of 80’s comedians who’s material consisted mostly of just saying ‘Thatcher eh!?’

Clarkson is just a Pantomime Dame really. Sometimes he can be amusing but rarely is. Just like the Dame is there to entertain a small childish element of the panto audience Clarkson is there for the immature boys who think a piece of metal defines them and for the sad old gits who go to clubs and try and cop off with girls young enough to be their daughters.

Just my opinion. This was a peice of empty hot air and is not worthy of note or response and the union’s are a bit sad for taking it as anything more.

The Stewart Lee ‘Top Gear Defense’ hits the nail squarely on the head imo, one of our best comedians by far.

I’d say the opposite. Regardless of the subject matter, the comedy isn’t clever.

I’m a bit torn on the whole thing.

Steward Lee is an interesting one. Halfway through that youtube clip I was thinking ‘what a hateful little man’, then I watched it all and it did make sense. I saw his stand up gig advertised last night and thought I’d rather set myself on fire than go to it but having watched that I’ve changed my opinion slightly. I think he’s less of a comedian, more of a commentator – he’s certainly quite switched on.

Hate it when people talk about peoples kids or wishing ill on folk though, both Lee and Clarkson make me feel slightly appalled that someone could feel like that, in jest or otherwise. I don’t have kids but it still affects me, god knows what it must be like if you do have them.

Clarkson is a dinosaur but some of what he says does make sense. I’ve started reading (ages ago, lost interest) one of his books and he has some fairly valid points. The shame of it is that he flowers up these valid points with offensive ‘man comments’ about lefties, lesbians and liberals. But then I don’t suppose he’d be as popular if he didn’t make outlandish comments. Or sell as many DVD’s..

As for the ‘he should be sacked’ comments – really? He clearly appeals to a number of people or he wouldn’t be as popular as he is. This witch hunt that starts every time someone says something unpopular (fueled by the tabloids when there’s no real news on) is pathetic. Told off – yes, asked to wind his neck in – yes, but sacked?

So a post that completely contradicts itself, I’ve done well…

I think Clarkson is a d!ck but what he said was a bad taste joke, nothing more, nothing less. He has a democratic right to freedom of speech just as the strikers had a democratic right to strike. And remember, a lot of the people who are outraged at what he said, were the same people who were talking about celebrating the death of Thatcher.

During the programme Mr Clarkson also made a jokey remark about people who threw themselves in front of trains.

A very talented man with whom I spent eight years of my professional life eventually threw himself under a train, to escape the voices.

The idea that Jeremy Clarkson is funny is the preserve of people who can’t think properly. In my opinion.

He should be sacked and then prosecuted.

Problem is, for every person who knows someone who has been in a bad enough state to end their life in front of a train, there’s another 500 who have been late getting home because of said act and feel cheated out of an evening with their kids, partner, whatever. Its these people that Clarkson appeals to, the unthinking majority who are only concerned with how it affects them.

He’s also said that middle lane hoggers should be shot dead by marksmen on motorway bridges. No one got this upset then as most of us agreed

He could also say it about fat people taking up room on planes, giving up seats for pregnant women, old people and so on. He picks easy targets that will gather the most amount of favour from the majority. Its lazy ‘humour’, just like Gervais.

Just because I read it, doesn’t mean I agree with it. I hate the Daily Mail more than anything else in the world, but I sometimes read it just to remind myself why I hate it so much.

LOL! @ Clarkson who incidently is also funny-ish celebrity maggot.

Only fools would take those celebrity maggots seriously and I bet many would like to be celebrity maggots themselves.

So when the the Union starts to condemn others for making fun of them I think they have transformed themselves into celebrity magggots … “Look at me! Look at me! I think Clarkson is wrong! We are the Union we are right! Look at me! Look at me! Here is our demand!”

    😆
