I’ve never done a 24 hour race before, but………

…….that’s all going to change at Strathpuffer this wekend. Should I be all hyped with excitement, or cacking myself at the potential conditions?

Done loads of them both solo and team including the Strathpuffer. Always been drawn to them but hate them once I’m underway, can’t help thinking that for the time and money I could be hitting a dry and dusty Spanish trail.
The Strathpuffer is excelent though.

First 24 hour race for me as well.

I have been packing things tonight, I have so much stuff, and that is without the bike!

It looks like it’s going to be the mildest weather yet for the ‘Puffer, so it should be a bit of a breeze.

We had worse days last Summer compared to the weather we’ve had up here this week.

Probably be a little mud though…

What’s the trail surface like up there? Is it nice Scottish rocky stuff or just mud like everywhere else?

Remember – it’s a marathon not a sprint, loads of teams go out too fast and then collapse overnight.

I have done loads of these and the people that win/enjoy it most are those that work well as a team. Meeting your team mate with a fresh bacon roll at changeover goes a long way ! And as its the SLCC team a curry and a beer might work better.

Hels, we’ve actually got a couple of teams in. One of them I reckon could do pretty well…….and then there’s the one I’m in which is a more a "let’s see if we can avoid being last" team.

We’ll be in a big tent with several wee tents if anyone wants to pop in and say Hi.

Forecast is gale force winds for north west scotland on Saturday night, BBC says snow on Sat and Sunday. Should be good, I will most probably be sitting in me Landy watching everyone cycle past.
