This year I have bought a Balsam Hill fake tree, Mrs has wanted one for years. It should see us good for a long time.

We have a real tree* in the lounge and in the kitchen is aa fake tree that I pinched from a job I was working on and the office was closing down.  It’s probably not the best fake tree around so this year MrsSB bought a Balsam Hill tree which arrived yesterday – she is “underwhelmed” by it for the money (it does look a bit plastic for my liking) so it’s going back and the nicked one is going to make another appearance!

    * this year we popped up the road half a mile to a place that grows a small number of trees – £40 per tree any size and they lend you a hand saw to cut it down.  I took my chainsaw!

I don’t think I’ve heard of Balsam Hill before this year – are they something I’ve missed in previous years or are they a recent brand?

I hadn’t either and basically bought off the back of this thread.  I now think you need to see these things in person… it’s costing £15 to send back.

chap i see often while walking the dog, last night asked if we didn’t celebrate Christmas, as ours is one of the few houses in the road to not have a tree in the window and loads of outside lights.  I pointed out that it was only the 10th of December and our tree and lights would be going up later in the week, in keeping with ‘tradition’.  It does seem that it starts earlier every year, maybe just me and the boss getting older…  That said, we do usually leave ours up till 4th or 5th of January, by which time most others are away.

    I did!

Literally the best [Xmas] thing ever. I used to dread putting the tree up and now it’s actually kinda enjoyable!

We have had similar for 20+ years.

It broke two Christmases ago, and sadly the previous owners of the house had left a simpler non-watering stand in the shed and we are using that rather than splash out on something better.
