I know probably the most asked question.

Firstly lloylds TSB won’t cover my speshi Camber or OH Canyon Nerve, ive tried to change insurances and cover ranges from £500 – £850 a year thats more than my car insurance!

Ive checked out the usual cycle only insurers, cycle guard, e&l etc anyone recommend any of these? or have claimed etc?? the bikes are safe at home tbh the chance of losing them is zero, even i have trouble getting them in and out of the secure space they have, but when we take them on holiday i need them covered.

Before anyone sayes M&S they won’t cover me due to not owning my flat and aviva wanted £800!!

This is a Pita as I have had numerous issues trying to get specialist cover, they wont cover the bikes gor full value unless they are in the house but because they are in the Garage-(integral to the house and more secure/ alarmed it is classed as an out building WTF!! Its part of the house and 8 inches between the garage and the lounge
So I am looking for specialist cover at the mo as I am currently uninsured( on the bikes)

We don’t own our house, and M&S happily insured the contents…

Having had similar issues with insurers wanting mega money for bikes and not covering them unless theyw ere locked up I decided not to insure them and instead invested in a good ground anchor and a massive chain.

M&S wouldn’t touch, 3rd floor flat, half the tennants council other half private.

Got E&L £12 a month for the camber and £9 a month for the Canyon, which isn’t too bad, like i said at home they are perfectly safe, 2 gold rated locks in a confined space they aren’t going anywhere, plus i have a road bike in the hallway thats going to go first the sacrifical lamb as it were.

I just got contents insurance through the co-op – bikes are named and covered on the extended bit as well (i.e. still covered when you take them out and use them!)

    Price was v. good, I thought, worth a try…

iv just redone my home ins. with The Co-Op

Policy covers bikes up to £1000 as standard (at home)

I added the marin and valued it at £2000
    The c456 @ £1250
and added away from home cover for personal possesions, covers both bikes listed and my other bike (vitus road bike £600) also mobiles/laptops etc etc

and it cost about £65 on top of the normal policy, bikes are covered for theft and crash damage, by the looks of it the only things not covered are tyres/tubes.

hope i never need to claim but feel a bit safer knowing they are insured.
