Aren’t most teabags plastic derived and not compostable? Twinnings used to advertise there as being compostable but outside expensive tea that’s the only one I’ve seen. And to make it worse some that are compostable are not compostable at home.

As said there’s a plastic layer on the paper, once the rest has composted the “ghosts” can easily be sieved out.

Some bags definitely are worse though, looking at those tea pigs…

There’s one of the big brands – Typhoo or PG maybe – who claim to have fully compostable bags.

Aren’t most of the tea bag people moving to fully compostable?
There was an article in the papers about it a couple of years ago.

If you want a green answer to teabags use a reusable teabag and loose leaf tea.  A pet hate of mine – greenwashing which is what “compostable” teabags are.  Reduce, reuse, recycle

6 Vs 1/2doz but when the council started doing food waste collections it was ascertained that any teabag was deemed compositable except those that explicitly weren’t (teapigs). As the amount of plastics contained in the bag was miniscule. Microplastic generated as a result, and bound up in the soil might not have been perfect, but is probably about 1000th on the list of things you’ve done that are bad for the environment before 9am each day.

Teapigs are bioplastic, so will biodegrade, but not at the speed industrial composting plants need to work at.

FWIW, where i am, all the green waste goes into a large bio-digester plant to make fuel for the local buses and biogas, so even stuff like 3D printed PLA filament is “compostable” if it’s smashed up sufficiently.
So teabags with a bit of bioplastics in are going to be no bother.

If it just gets dumped in a field to rot down, that’s a different matter altogether.

TJ has the right idea. We have a bunch of those tea simmas at the house. Them and loose tea are the best way to make a cuppa and very common here in Sweden.

You have longer, more varied passwords that dont follow a pattern, and are held offline rather than in an online Vault like Lastpass or Google. Its only weakness is to someone physically sat at your desk, (or who steals the notebook), but what is the probability of that?

Slim to naff all, i would hazard a guess, especially if the notebook doesnt have “PASSWORDS!” written on the front of it.

theft (or identify theft for getting loans/credit cards etc) by younger family members in financial trouble against elderly parents/grandparents is REALLY common – this is basically gift wrapping it for them 😂

I knew of a guy who used to sell loads of things like this in the early 90s, people seemed really happy after buying them. He had a flashy car and everything.

Bottled water is an essential in some areas. CD junior lives in London where the water is undrinkable, my parents are in N Lincolnshire where it’s also disgusting (to them).

Water filter jug? Bottled water really is insane.

I’m of the unpopular opinion that grated cheese, ice cubes and bottled water are in the insanely stupid products category.

if you actually look at price, grated cheese is generally cheaper per kg than a block of cheese. i guess they use the offcuts.

Rich_s I think that the solution to passwords is 1Password app.
I had reused a single password on quite a few sites and when Vodafone got hacked had to spend hours changing them. 1Password helps you to create (and auto paste) complex passwords – all in a database unlocked by a single (better be a good one) password.
I used a random list to produce my one master password as recommended by the 1Password developers.
Works across multiple devices. Syncs.
Alerts of website breaches and flags up reused or weak passwords.
Pets name? Place of birth? Dates of birth. All super weak.
Highly recommended.

I’m not going to get into the pros and cons of password managers, been done, but I will point out that every time I’ve seen someone with a hand written book/list of passwords they are always mydog, mydog1, mydog2, etc etc and never the randomly generated ones you speak of!

Also, randomly generated passwords aren’t exactly the best choice for passwords. Computers are great at tumbling through letters and numbers. You’re better off with a pass phrase.

It doesn’t matter. You just want a really long one, whatever it is, that would take until the heat-death of the universe to crack. A passphrase only makes sense if you need to remember it. I have so many passwords, all unique, I just let the keychain take care of everything 😎

Sort of. You do need decent cables if you want higher definition images or longer cables. Cheap cable will throttle the resolution, especially on longer runs but even on short runs for the very cheap cables. Found this out the hard way many years ago. Once it works you won’t get any improvement with a more expensive cable, though.

I’m on-board with this idea but the device pictured and similar always seem to be problematic because the tealeaves expand so that they cannot swirl around and the water does not circulate as well. Anyone got a better device with a larger swirl chamber?
