Ah ok. Uberbike e-bike matrix are also blue. I found in proper dry weather they had the edge on the race matrix but they were worse in the wet which didn’t work for me in the UK.

I’m only going by what he’s said, but we’ll need spare pads anyway.

These are Code R, he’s comparing to Guide Rs on the GT

After today’s coaching, chatting with Katy was very interesting. She’s changed a few things on body position again, mostly legs.
    Boy was apparently flying.

Although Ethan Craik was there who was really really flying!

The lad was abusing me lots all day ‘bike feels great now the front tyre is the right way round’ and ‘i didn’t lose the front once today, funny that isn’t it’

He’ll be getting the belt tonight before bed

It’s a day out in the forest with my boy and a cafe, they’re always great days.

Expensive day at £2000 but hey, some people save it in pension extras, me, I live the fun now

Is that one of those new specializeds you half way bought for yourself before veering to the trek?
Because I was thinking after the Bronson episode that I don’t recall any bad words about the enduro so maybe that park bike would be a hit with the boy. Apart from the fact you ordered one then cancelled it for ? reason

    weeksy

That’s correct. I cancelled the one i ordered as i’d decided to stick with 27.5 and not risk the mullet… i then went full 29er instead in the Trek. What i learned with the Trek is that 29er isn’t necessarily the evil i thought it was.

The Status was bought because for him (and arguably me too) it makes sense as a trail/play bike, but also because i realised a few things with things like the Bronson and others with componentry. The Status is 100% ‘normal’, whereas everything else seems to have quirky things about it. But this has Fox 36s, DPX2 shock, Code Rs, generic everything, so all simple, easy to fit, fix, find, replace should anything go wrong.

The Enduro made a lot of sense and was the easy choice, but it still quite an old bike (in my world anyway, not necessarily everyone would agree), with old bits, the propriatary Specialized shock etc…. So i ended up getting the 21 Status.

I’m 99% convinced he already likes it more than the Bronson ever would have been… the last 1% i’ll get dialed in in the next few days.

It’s something we’re working on, we do spend time doing it and he’s got his own selection of tools for the trail with torque click tools for bolts. We spend a bit of time doing little things. But he’s not quite there yet. Getting there though.

He changed the pads on the rear today, along with sanding the fronts to take off the glaze. We had a set of Uberbike race matrix in the spares for his brakes.

Pressures re-done on the forks and shock…. i think we’re happy.

We went out playing and riding today but left Mrs Weeksy to Invisiframe the Status.

The lad commented the bars were exceptionally wide, with the grips fitted they’re coming in at a whopping 825mm.

So we’ve taken a chunk off them to get them closer to the width of the DH (and the older Sworks too)

    Don’t bother – it’s currently closed for a bit of a revamp.

Even if it wasn’t – risking the traffic heading to Bournemouth beach on a sunny bank holiday.. are you mad!?

Got to come down Sunday lunch to drop off the t130 which seems is 4 miles away from bike park.
But if it ain’t open we won’t bother of course.

    Thanks for info.

Go to QE instead and ride this stuff, park in the top car park, and head out along the main track, keep going until the farthest highest point where the red crosses over and it’s everything to your left, towards the road, from bottom the fire tracks up take you to the blue climb, which takes you back to the top of the runs.

    Well hmmmm.

One of the lads broke his brake line at bpw today, so he’s out on my Trek this afternoon. I spent the morning on the Trek and felt I was going well on it.

As he borrowed it, I jumped on the Status 160 for the afternoon. PR, PR, PR, PR. Segment after segment best ever times on Strava. That was with a shock is not put enough air in and was a good 30psi too soft.

But, it’s a really nice, fast and stable bike.

    Massively impressed with it.

@weeksy you were going to buy a Status 160 at one point then backed out of it. Can’t remember why – maybe too close to the g170 you had before?

Was actually out of stock iirc?

Anyway, back to the point 😉

@pimpingimp – I can see them on matching Statuses(? – not sure what the plural of status is) and why not? They like biking and want nice bikes. Also Weeksy would have a complete spare bike/parts to keep his son racing. Now I mention it, that makes total sense. Lo

It’s not actually the daftest idea ever.

Anyone got £3100 lying round for a Trek Fuel ex9.8 in immaculate condition? 2020/21 model. Ha ha.

That’s kinda what the Status is in its own right. It won’t be used mostly on race days, but will be the spare race day bike.

For info, the lad used it yesterday at Afan and was flying on it and even uphill was going really well.

The GT though is his baby and I think he’d marry it if he could. At BPW he was properly loving it.

We’re both tired though, really really tired.

Random pub just down the camel trail about 1 mile from the race.

It’s in the woods jus opposite Grogley Woods.

We’re not allowed to check it out tonight, so track walk 9am.

long way to drive for a race on a very small hill?
