    I’m about 500 miles into ownership of a 2002 Peugeot 406 HDi 110. Peugueot claim an average 50mpg, I’m managing 54.4mpg at the moment with a mix of motorway and countryside/small town driving. I’m fairly happy with that, especially as I’m currently doing about 1800 miles/month for work.

    yeah – skoda rapid here, claimed 72mpg, getting a real world 60 in mixed driving, can get 67 on a decent long drive – the A9 is good for MPG with the avg speed thingy.

    the real world 60 is spot on the average on HJ.

    Another Skoda: 10 year old Fabia 1.4tdi. Quoted best figure when we bought it new was 69mpg. Once fully run in, that was easily acheivable on a run. Steady-away at 70ish on the motorway gives circa 72mpg, and on a relaxed trundle home at 60-65mph I’ve managed 82mpg over 150 miles of motorway. ?

    I have no idea what the original figures should have been for mine but the economy figures shown by the readout are actually much lower than my 8 years of trip reset & brim to brim calculations.
    37.2mpg vs 44.7mpg !!

    Just looked it up & the combined figure is 47.1mpg, given I thrash it a fair bit I guess that figure is not wildly optimistic.

    Mazda 6 2.0D estate BTW

    If I were to trust the computer values on the dash, then mine would be about 5% short of claimed figures. But since the computer she tell porkies it is closer to 20% lower unless I am really pootling. Best yet on a tank was 56( comp), 46(actual). Claimed figure is 49 for my car. Usually however it is giving between 40 and 44 actual

    2010 Focus Estate 1.6 TDCi :

    * manufacturer’s claimed extra-urban = 67mph

    * actual with passengers, roof-rack/bike fittings, 70mph cruise control = 64mph

    I’m quite satisfied to be honest…

    Skoda Fabia 1.2 (60PS):

    Official Combined: 49.2mpg
    Actual Combined: 48mpg

    It was only doing 40-42 when new but now after 20k miles and replacing the draggy Bridgetones for Dunlop BlueResponse tyres it’s much better. Drops down to 45mpg with the bike rack on the towbar but I can live with that. Got 44mpg going from Cardiff to Chatel and back this year all-in 😀

    Current A4 1.9 can only get 45mpg at very best (usually more like 40) and I’m a careful driver and it’s slower than the tide. Odd as the last one -virtually identical – could be really quick and would always get 50+. Cannot work it out.
