Do the pieces fit together? I.e. can you use them to make one track?
Who does the best wooden train set? I.e. something with lots of pieces which can branch out to maybe a village and vehicles etc.

Don't you like toy trains? MN is not responding anyhow it's beneath them apparently. Or perhaps it's because I have a daughter…

Lol. I'm watching my son playing with his mix of tesco and ikea sets. Works fine though a little tighter fitting.

We have two of the £10 sets from tesco and the bridge set from ikea and that's loads.

    Try here.

I got a set for my little boy last Christmas and was the best looking deal I could find. And it's a bike shop!

KINGTUT will just employ some poor immigrants to lay track in his estate and steal the train from Ashton Court – he's like that you know.

Tesco and ASDA fit together. Pretty sure that the IKEA one does too.

Tesco bridges are better than the ASDA ones. Locos in both sets are a bit crap. You need to get your hands on the Tesco high speed jobbies that are sold on their own.

    Awesome.

I presume these are also compatible with Brio tracks?

We've got a set that were given to my son as a present, we've looked at buying him some more but the Brio stuff is pretty pricey.

An Ikea/Tescon/Asda alternative would be a better option if they fit.

Jad- that is brilliant! That looks like an ideal Christmas gift actually. Perhaps Santa will bring it. 🙂

I've not seen any at Asda. I'll look there too perhaps. I was looking at Brio and they are very expensive!…but, even though I'll probably get told to high tail it back to MN again, TKMaxx has been known to carry Brio accessories for very cheap (never seen track though).

Clubber- that's what I was envisioning for little Grips. 🙂 She's only got a little circle now, and it's just not enough.

Knowing clubber that's just the local branch line, he's probably built a mainline that circumnavigates the entire house.

It's brilliant. Mini clubber's fave toy in fact. He wakes in the morning shouting "play choo choo" 🙂

It even goes on holiday with us…

WTF is this? I could just about setup a figure of 8 in Brio. By the time I have kids, the little swines will have monorails!

I'd personally (never mind what little Grips might want) love to have so much track that it could go under the couches and out into the hall and back…and the propect of getting up the stairs!!!… Imagine the fun of putting it all together!

    Check out the charity shops.
We gave ours to the local Charity shop and it was in superb condition. Mr. bunnyhop wasn't playing with it anymore (only kidding).

Wasn't early learning centre 'the' place to get wooden train set back in the day…… Remember playing with them in the shops quite a lot.
