I eat lots of nuts actually. Can’t remember saying they were out – good source of protein and fat. And Almond butter is fab.

    Sweeteners are shite.

Artificialy sweeteners – I’m assuming no because even though they are calorie free they’re still high on the GI?

Eh? how would an artificial sweetener have a high GI? I’m not going to extol the virtues of aspartame but one thing it doesn’t do is affect blood glucose levels. And yeah I like Pepsi max so sue me :p

You didn’t say they were out.

However, Molgrips and I have decided they are out.
    😆

Furthermore, ime, if you’re total iDave diet, then days off are still Ok, but I did end up bottoming out and then yoyoing.
2Kg off during the week, 2Kg back on during the W/E.

So, I then had to go hybrid, which for me meant no days off.
    It is working.
I am now sub 82Kg and still improving.

Cool, I stand corrected. I can have a sweetener in my (black) coffee now!

Nuts are good for you, I have some everyday. But dont eat 100’s of them cos you’ll end up like Solo at 80kg+

    BB.

Your mixing your units of measurement 😉

My diet is great, the best its ever been.
Its taken a year of reading and learning.
    Time well spent.
Now that the diet is sorted, I am in the gym a few times a week, and have really got back into my road cycling. Totally lovin it.

I contribute here, only to offer encouragement, mostly.

How come no sweetcorn for you, Solo?

I’ve been through the first full weekly cycle.

I didn’t start off with a “from weight”; I only have a “to weight”. I’m not there yet, but seem to be heading in the right direction.

However, I put that down to having less total food slowly trawling through my intestines.

For a sugar king, I have to say that I’m not really missing the sweet stuff. Mainly because I’m managing to deal with some of the underlying emotional responses to food –

    – no boredom snacking
    – no comfort eating

I really looked forward to the “off” day (Sunday), but actually it wasn’t the frenzy I thought it might be: sure, I ate toast with butter and honey, and homemade butter-free scones with jam, but I was back on a low GI meal in the evening.

    Good stuff.

    Keep it up.

    It gets easier.

Not been too hard so far. Need to revert to exercise, though – fitness is decidedly conspicuous by its absence and I’m about to make a fool of myself in the cross season.

My boss has just been on ”the fetch”[/url] and brought back a great looking pork pie. Can I get away with just eating the filling?

does any one find that if they fall off the wagon later in the day (breakfast /lunch on plan but grab some chips for dinner) they are completley wiped out for a day or two. sat here feeling like i’ve been run over. no energy levels etc.

the cheat day seems fine though. this is the second time in 2 weeks i feel awful after messing up dinner….

Only 4 days in but no probs so far.

Breakfast has been gram flour flatbreads with scrambled egg and/or bacon

Lunch has been tuna and bean salads

Dinner was meat and two veg but tonight I made a chicken & lentil stew and the leftovers are lunch tomorrow.

No cravings at all and no desire to eat at any other time apart from mealtimes.

You are far too good at this.

We are more familiar with people buckling under the strain of change.
    You’re an iDave swat.
Long may you continue to enjoy your new dietary choices.
    😉

Falling off the wagon aint so bad.

After all, at least you stepped aboard the wagon in the first place and even iDave has slipped…on the odd occassion.
    😉

If you persist, falling off the wagon should become less frequent.

Ultimately, its all about how bad you want it

But, from where I am, its been a good trip.

Last Saturday lunch time I had a spinach and wild venison fillet steak salad.
It was sooooooo good I still think of it now.
    *foodee sad-O*

Of course it helps that my neighbour shoots wild deer and is a national champion butcher.

    😉

    Keep the faith.

Slight slippage this evening – didn’t know what to put with the glorious Natal red kidney bean curry I’d made for me and Mrs North, so I joined her in some wholegrain rice.

Slap my wrists, but beans with beans just felt wrong and I’ve had no other “carbs” today.

Still enjoying the diminished hunger between meals and reduced desire to snack.

Is lactose free milk ok? As I thought the lactose is what causes the insulin response in ordinary milk.
    any ideas?

Nope, not me. Too much booze tends to be the one thing that gets me the next morning.

Have been making coleslaw with natural yoghurt (and wholegrain mustard) instead of mayo. Is nat yog allowed? Methinks not.

Either way, pork chop with coleslaw and a couple of fried eggs for breakfast rocks.

OK, what’s the main ingredient for making yoghurt?
