I don't think it's evil, just to be avoided for particular reasons on this regime. And yes I mean iDave.

    Alexxx.

You are right, and I'll have to let old SFB alone….Soon
    😉

it was old iDave that said that fruit was verboten

That is completely and utterly incorrect.

Those who wish to follow iDave's advice will know that they can eat whatever they want, at least one day a week.
    Even yummy things.

It was I that suggested this might be because fruit was evil, but that perhaps scurvy and the loss of teeth were a high price to pay
Fear not fellow MTB'er, I believe iDave has teeth and is scurvy-free.
    😉

I'm going home now to yummy food, with the aid of good recipe suggestions from friendly types on here.
    Thanks all.

Veggies are on the iDave plan, which means plenty of vitamin C.

Re meat – I wonder if the lack of dairy would make it difficult for non-meat eaters? You'd be effectively vegan. Oh, but there's eggs – so you'd probly be ok there 🙂

That is completely and utterly incorrect.

on the dietary advice thread, he posted:
cut OUT white carb food – bread, potatoes, rice, pasta. as in don't eat them
    cut OUT fruit
    cut OUT dairy
    don't drink calories
drink red wine, coffee and water
eat as much veg as you want
    as many eggs also
    and lean meat
use legumes/nuts/seeds to replace the white starch

(so I was wrong about scurvy as veg should prevnt that 🙂

I use soya milk (though sweetened with toxic apple juice) and hardly ever touch eggs, however there's plenty of protein from non-animal sources

He also gave us brains with which to consider our actions 🙂

I thought there was something that was hard to get if you were completely vegan.. plant protein wasn't enough.. anyone care to shed some light?

EDIT: I was thinking of vitamin B12.

    Oh.. heh..

But still – not arguing against veggie-ism. It's very eco friendly for a start.

"cut OUT white carb food – bread, potatoes, rice, pasta. as in don't eat them"
seems to be quite unambiguous about what "cut out" might mean, if there were any doubt…

plant protein wasn't enough.. anyone care to shed some light?

if you exclude all animal sources then you need to mix different plant sources to get all the amino acids

This would fit in the plan I think…

Roast some beetroot in olive oil and then let it cool down a bit.
Mix on a plate with spinach and rocket some walnuts and flaked warm smoked mackerel. Make a dressing out of some horseradish, olive oil, (lemon juice – eek – red / white wine vinager?)salt and pepper.

    😀

fortified margarine, breakfast cereals and most importantly Marmite, all have B12.

    Can we just use this post for tasty recipies;

For me so far salmon with baked aubergines slices (dinner last night) Chickpeas, tuna, cucumber, raddish, rocket, chilli, spring onion (lunch today)
    Chicken,asparagus,borlotti beans,rocket (dinner tonight)

I don't even need to loose weight 5'8 & 10st 11lbs, just the idea of being fighting fit appealed,(still a bit in winter proof mode) plus some of the recipies look so tasty can't wait to have lamb chops with refried beans.

Ah.. wiki didn't mention Marmite, must've been written by an American 🙂 But it did say eat supplemented foods as you say.

Action dan – if you are not trying to lose weight but want to train and get fitter, you may wish to consider a higher carb diet than this one (do I need my flame-proof suit?) to go with more exercise…

I am interested in what people are doing for breakfast? Do not think I could hack eggs everyday.

kin'ell sfb i said you can eat what you want one day a week. in fact eat what you want anytime, any day, whatever it is….. eat an apple tree today if it helps you feel more smug and legitimate, though frankly I doubt that's possible

Bowl 'o beans with bacon chopped in should work I think. My prob with breakfast is its the one time i just can't be asked to prepare anything. Usually its porridge/milk/microwave stuff in face

While I have your ear Dave. When you mention at the start of the week soaking/cooking up a load of beans. Can these just keep in the fridge all week?*

*I am to food/cooking what sfb is to contributing positively to this thread.

The problem is we can't all dine on the sense of our own self satisfaction like you can Simon. You seem to be one step up the evolutionary ladder than us lot.

    Congrats.

Barnes, you are very lucky to be naturally skinny.

Although you are also naturally a tw*t tho so I guess it's swings and roundabouts

there is a downside. I'm always hungry as I can never eat as much as I want 🙁 If I ate as much as my appetite demanded I'd need a fork lift truck to get out of the house…

Do you nuke them in the microwave or just heat up in some water?

Can I have a ruling on marinating meat in lime / lemon juice?

Here is a tasty meal I made last night.

Chicken breast chopped and marinaded in lime juice, lime zest, olive oil, salt and pepper for 15 minutes.
    Large gourgette chopped,
    Large red onion chopped,
Green leaves – Spinach / Rocket etc
Stir fry the chicken for 6 or 7 minutes, throw in the veg and stir fry for another 2-3 minutes, throw in the greens for 30 secs and serve

I saw him cycling once, in grizedale forest. I saw him coming towards me, but then as he passed by he dissapeared for a short while, before re-appearing further down the trail. I reckon he's skinny. I thkn it was him ,it could have been predator
