How long are waterproofs waterproof?

I’m in the market for a new waterproof. My last one has died after a couple of years. I’ve re-proofed and washed regularly with the grangers stuff. But two years for £80 plus is a bit steep or am I being unreasonable?

Depends. What is it made of? Is it breathable? What are the care instructions? Do you follow them "to the letter"? I’ve had Goretex jackets for 4-5 years no problem.
