Does anyone know what happened? Didn’t seem to be other riders involved?

Clipped wheel or something on the descent, was going a fair rate of knots.

It’s been a bad weekend for cycling. Someone died in a Sportive on Sunday, there was a 4X rider very badly injured at Penshurst on Sunday (currently on life support), there was a mass pile up in a road race when a car ignored the requests of the marshals and drove through the finish line straight into a bunch of sprinting cyclists. And then drove off.

    Just so sad. 🙁

Can people please refrain from posting RIP until definite news has been published rather that speculation.

Ah – that’s bad news indeed.

i really wish i hadn’t looked for that on youtube. there really is a lot of blood.

I have no deisre to rewind the TV, it didn’t look pleasant.

Yes, I had no desire to rewind the TV either. It looked very serious even from the glimpse that the moto camera got. Youtube should really take the clip off in respect for his family.

    RIP.

Reported on BBC news just now. I had been looking forward to watching the highlights later this evening and avoiding this thread thinking it would be a spoiler. Shocking news, takesthe wind out of your sails. RIP.
