Can't quite work it out from the pics on t'interweb, but I've just ordered some wheels with the singlespeed / trials Pro II hub on the rear, and am wondering how the cogs / sprockets etc fit on?

It looks to me like they come with a series of spacers and they have underneath them a squashed up version of a Shimano freehub, so the cog has to have the appropriate notches out of it to fit. The spacers are used to get the chainline right, but is there a lock ring similar to a Shimano cassette to keep it all in place?

Like I say - probably a silly question, but can't quite get my head around it.

cheers in advance.

You are correct sir. I bought mine second hand so no spacers etc, but a "normal" lockring fits with a cog and some spacers

You will need to buy a lockring though as it doesn't come with one.

so does it screw into the spacer then (that hopefully comes with the hub)?

It just screws into the freehub body.
Same as a geared hub.

Just imagine a normal freehub, just stubbier.

The other thing to note is that you should use a cog with a wide base e.g. Surly, On-One, or Chris King

Shimano DX can score the freehub body. It's the Al body that makes them light, noisy, and susceptible to gouging.

Correct me if I'm wrong Aidan (and I know us Voodoo riders are rarely wrong) but the SS hub has a steel body doesn't it? Still, a wide body cog would seem sensible...

Oh... my mistake then. But wide cogs are still a good idea 🙂

I don't think anyone has confirmed it yet, but they are supplied with a couple of spacers.

That piccy (off of CRC) shows it with and without spacers. The blue one is shown without the spacers. Typically, I couldn't really find much info out on Hope's site - or pics for that matter, but then maybe I didn't look hard enough...

Thanks for the cog advice - I was going to have a look-see on Charlie's site for a Salsa or Surly. He's out of stock on 17T though, so I may have to change the chainring to suit a 16 or 18 that i've got in the parts bin...

Tell you what - does it look like these would do? Miche track sprockets, they look good and phat and appear to have the lugs in the right place for the freehub body on the Hopes? Whaddayouthink?

No they won't fit, those lugs are to fit a miche cog carrier for fixed wheel.

I've managed to break mine after less than a year's use. The flange on the drive side has cracked in several places around the spoke holes. :(. Waiting to see what Hope (Deutschland)have to say. Hope(sorry)fuly they'll build up the wheel as I don't really want to fork out for a new wheel build.
