Hey all,

I think I've got myself into a bit of a pickle with my bike build project.  Current set-up is a 26" Kona frame, 135mm width rear dropout and my wheels are built on Hope Pro II hubs (Non-EVO).  On a standard QR axle.

I've got a new XT M8100 cassette (and rear mech, shifter, chains etc) but I need to replace the free hub with a Shimano Microspline.  I believe that I can't fit the Microspline to the Pro II hub.  Is it true that I can convert my rear hub to a Pro II Evo with certain parts and then use the Shimano Micro Spline free hub and cassette ok..?

If the answers is yes, does anybody know the parts I need?

🙂

Yes, you can with a new axle and bearing set, maybe a different freehub spacer too. Assuming you'll reuse the end caps.

Stealth Advert - I'm 99.9% sure I have a brand new Hub229 axle in a spares box if your interested? I'll look later and if I have, £12 posted 1st class, PP Gift?

I wish I'd known that when I still had multiple sets of Hope Pro 2 hubs lying around.

@Carlos Yes, partly.  I read that thread last night.  What it didn't confirm was whether converting my hub using those parts would allow the new Microspline free hub to fit properly.

My other option might be to leave the hub as it is and use an MZ90 12S Sunrace cassette instead..

you will need a new axle (HUB229S), qr non drive side end spacer (HUB461N), 2mm axle spacer (HUB436) and a Pro 2 Evo Microspline freehub (not sure of part number for that). Do make sure you get the correct freehub as it comes with a specific end spacer, your original end spacers will not fit.
Effectively you will be converting your hub to a Pro 2 Evo Microspline.

I'll double check I've got one tonight, and then post up on this thread either way.

Well I thought I'd just bring this to a conclusion.  With the help fo @carolos and with the parts list mentioned by @brianblessed I've now managed to convert my old Pro II rear hub to accept a new Shimano Microspline and 12s XT cassette.  Bike build finally finished and took it out for it's maiden voyage today, rode like a dream!
