Just going to try to convince the wife we should take our grandson to watch as thats the only way i will be able to have the car .
There will be quite a lot to see actually.
In addition to the 2 races (Youth at 9:00 – PLACES STILL AVAILABLE, Adult at 10:00) we’ve got…
• Brass band
• Samba band
• Free to enter kiddie bike race (bring kid+bike)
• LBS trade stand
• Assorted other dicking about
• And, with it being a park, there are also swings, slides and a brilliant climbing frame made out of trees and ropes.
The course is quite large and much of it is closed to spectators because it goes through some fairly dense woodland, however The Field Of Despair and The Buff® Bluff (cheers for the name Rusty 😉 ), formerly MTFU Hill, can all be viewed from the comfort of a tarmac road. There is even a fence to lean on to prevent you from falling over with laughter. It is a bit like Monkey Island at Chester Zoo without all the disgusting bottom picking.
It is possible to walk down to the more open sections of the course on the Forestry Commission land. If you ask a marshal they will point you in the right direction, but you need to be aware that the race is going on and try and avoid getting run over or bringing down somebody doing mach 1 on a cross bike.
If you are coming to spectate please don’t use the competitor’s car park because you won’t be able to get out until the race is over.
There is a car park by the swings but we would ask competitors not to use it as the park is still open for normal parky business.
We’ve also got a special guest rider. He came free with the prizes from Hope. A bit like getting a plastic frog in your Rice Crispies when you were a kid, but hairier.
