Hip flask for biking recommendations

Basically something small, robust that wont ‘spoil’ the contents (if its left in my backpack heat, sun, cold etc – will alcohol go ‘off’?!

i don’t see how drinking whisky on a ride is enjoyable, surely it’ll just make the ride harder? maybe it’s just me!

It’s not a concept I struggle with. Get to the top of a hill on a cold winters night, pass a short nip around among friends, put the world to rights then back on the bike and continue you on your merry way. Much as folk have done for donkeys years.

+1. Any old hip flask will do – you can pick them up in charity shops. I’m a single malt man, whereas one of my riding colleagues prefers a good calvados.

Yes. Your 15 year old single malt will be full of green mould in no time at all 😉

Cut the lid off an old bottle, insert a SIGG flask and tape around the joint – hey presto and you can now carry nearly a whole bottle of single malt in a bike bottle rack.

I don’t see how drinking whisky at any time is enjoyable and whilst I’m at it, you can file coffee in the same bin 🙂

HH – fantastic idea there! I’m a fan of Lucozade bottles as they’re lighter than metal and you can get a half bottle in them perfectly.

Anyway, here’s me putting it to good use. I should add, I was staying almost at the end of the trail so had a few good slugs of Brandy at the top, a few more on the way down and generally thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I’m liking that more than the double hip flask option above. Strictly for bothy trips mind you 😉
