    Hello

I have a friend, he is 110 kilo, he is looking at a used prophet, but will such a singlepivot hold up to hes weight ???

    Thanks

I was around 100kg when I’ve had mine, done some silly stuff on it and it held up well! I’ve also bought mine second-hand, it’s worth looking at the damper mounting points – if it’s unmarked in the FR setting it might be an indication that the bike hasn’t been ridden too hard.

AND, you can fit 650b wheels there 😛

    No help to you though!

Im in the process of building up an Ebay bargain Prophet frame. Im 100kg and hard on bikes and did plenty of research before buying it. Seem to have a pretty good reliability record with very little history of crack&fail (ing)!

Mines being built parts off my Evil Sovereign so 50mm stem, Marzocchi 55CR forks @150mm, big brakes, NW single ring cranks, 2.3 Minion/Highroller.

It seems that the dropper post fashion has killed them off thanks to their 27.2mm seattube.

I loved my Prophet too, if only they’d made a 29er… and I’m around or over that weight mark (kitted up obviously). Had the bike for 2/3 glorious years riding, until I discovered 29ers, can’t recommend it enough. Just make sure you buy one with a low pressure (std not high pressure) shock can, preferably a fox, though I have a fully serviced but un-used manitou 3-way if he needs a cheap shock option

Ps: Set it in the FR setting and leave it there!

Think you mean don’t get one with a high volume shock?

Great bikes, I retired my Prophet 12 months ago after 5 happy years riding. Only problem I had was the drive side bb threads stripping. I had it repaired but can’t bring myself to sell it, it’s hanging in the cellar.

sorry yep, volume not pressure & another +1 for (driveside) BB repair.. about the most often reported ‘fault’ with these frames. I let mine go, for not a lot, to allow some-one else to have fun with her.

No problem at all OP, go for it, awesome bikes.

Get a standard volume Fox RP23 for it if you can.

How much for the ‘cheap’ manitou 3-way z1ppy?

Yeah they are tough old bikes, I ended up running mine in the XC setting (for BB clearance) with a -2 deg works headset a pushed dhx5 and a gravity dropper.

    only sold it because Nicolai.

650 wheels will limit your choice of tyre/size out back 😉
I would go with a coil for anyone over 90kg.

Go for it had built one up over a summer and tweeked it before christmas. Short stem, wide bars, superstar nanos, x-fusion dropper and absolutely love it. So much so my wife said last night I could have any mountain bike I wanted (no limit to budget) and I said no i’ll keep the prophet till it breaks.

@iamanobody – I don’t think so. I picked up a frame about 3-4 years ago and used other bits of mine..

Damn Rusty that bike is huuuuuge! And very nice!
