Hi currently running on a rocky mountain element 29er Sram 2210 carbon cranks with 38/24 rings with a X7 direct mount and a xt 10 speed 11 to 34 cassette with xt rear medium cage.

Overall okay after coming from 3×9 quite comfortable and put in better and quicker times than before but I would like more top end speed and I find I am not using lowest gears at all
so could gear ratio gurus advise on

    A) a good range alternative …40/24 or 40/26 if that exists?
    B) what rings will fit with the cranks and BB
    c) will this any of this work with X7 direct front mech

all advise welcome especially on the pitfalls

    Cheers

Blimey, you’re using 38×11 and that’s not enough? Where are you riding?

    That’s similar to 40×11 on a 26er.

40\24 might be a bit of a pig shifting on the front.

Riding nw England, so some hills and have got used to a trekking 48/36/26 set up on a 29er, 😳

agreed worried about shifting on the front with a mismatch set up
