Help me formulate a letter to my MP about the forestry sell off..

So if you go to http://www.writetothem.com/ they will send a nice letter to your MP or local councillor. I want to write to my MP Ben Bradshaw about my opposition to the forestry sell off. Help help, feeling lost for words…

fwiw I sent an email and just got a copy/pasted letter (not even addressed to my name) which near enough says “please read the enclosed email print out”, which basically just outlines the governments plans rather than actually address the issue. I also got a signed compliments slip. Disheartening.

Not saying it is perfect but I think it more effective than just using the standard wording produced by some of these website. This is what I sent to Neil Parish the Honiton and Tiverton MP.

I am writing to you about the government’s planned sell-off of English forests. I have given my support to the 38 Degrees the people powered campaigning organisation in the form of a petition and action to raise the profile of the proposed sell off of Forresty Commision Land. Together with the other 350,000 members we raised enough money for a YouGov opinion poll to find out what the public thinks about the sell-off.
According to the poll, 85% of people want our woodlands to stay in public hands.

Can you please assure me that you will fight to keep forests in public ownership and vote against changing the law to allow a 100% sell-off?

I use many pieces of Forrestry commision land on a regular basis for both walking with my Family and also Mountain biking. I use Farway forrestry commision land at least twice per week and Haldon forrest several times per month.

gather some facts, decide why you oppose the sell off, then go to a meet and greet rather than writing a letter he will never read.

I wouldn’t mention 38 degrees, or any online petition, they are guaranteed to make him ignore you.

You could email them, discuss it on Facebook/Twitter, or ask them about it in the pub. That’s what I do with my MP, anyway.

Or, is your MP not as contactable/human as mine?

My MP is a president blair clone, make pronouncements on what he believes, and how thsi si better than what we believe (ie he doesn’t listen) seems to love the high life, has an enormous ego and doesn’t give a toss about his constituents, I didn’t vote for him and remind him continuously that I didn’t vote for him whenever I get the chance.

Mine is a young rising tory star. I believe he exists, but no-one I know in the area has actually seen him.

Saying that, a photo of him in a town centre with ‘normal’ people has recently been unearthed online.

My MP on Facebook: “I’m getting lots of letters about this, people are very upset at the thought of our forests being sold off and I agree with them.”
