Yep, looked that way to me too. Didn’t stop for a proper look, but I couldn’t see an obvious “We have moved” sign or anything.

Certainley looked that way last weekend when I went past… only used it once or twice for ’emergency spares’, but was a pleasent enough fella I dealt with, shame.

Is the one in Lindley still going too?

The Lindley one (Velocity) looked fine to me last week.

Hope it/they dont. Huddersfield needs more cycle shops IMO. Can’t really think of any bar the one on Wakefield road (too far out) and there are none in the centre anymore.

wheelspin’s just out of the centre in lockwood, apart from that there’s nowt.

Wheelspin are in Lockwood, only just outside the centre. Didn’t know there was one on Wakefield Road, what’s it called?

Yes, Colne Valley has closed. (No great loss in my opinion)! Otherwise, Huddersfield has Velocity, Wheelspin and Try Cycling is on the scenic route to Wakefield.

Wheelspin sold me my first ever road bike years ago (two shop owners back). Used to love going into their shop (next to Johnny’s nightclub)

    Ah memories 🙂

have you lot been to wheelspin recently .how he keeps trading is anyones guess one of the most uninterested people ever & as for customer service he knows nothing.

hes worse than chris at vee cycles in brighouse who is one of the rudest men ive ever met.

now try-cycling now that man is a pure gem.

That would be a shame if CV is gone.

Wheelspin are, I think, the worst bike shop I’ve ever been in. If you’re not spending three figures he’s just not interested.

Try cycling might have to be the local go to now but I usually make the trek out to 18 bikes.

Maybe I should take over Joe’s Ye Olde Bike Shoppe in Holmfirth? It’s crying out for a decent bike shop.

sowerby brothers in mirfield always seemed like a good shop.

Aye, they are. Keep forgetting them as they’re about as far away as 18 are for me. They’ve done good work on my bikes in the past.

Yep Im fed up with that wheelspin guy, speaks to me like im a fool.
be honest with you,the next time he speaks to me like a c–t hes gonna get a slap **** it.

Bob at Velocity Lindley,is a genuine guy,and rides,he was a sowerby bros rider in the day..he’s worth going to,

I remember wheelspin back in the day when it used to be down on wakefield road Aspley, little shop then, then he moved up to where johhny’s is,the old guy werent that good either, come to think of it wheelpsin has never ever been a good shop.

i went into the new evans shop in leeds on monday………to see what it was like and to have a word with Manchester Trev off here.
seems ok and i am gonna give them a punt, seeing has they have a bloke working there who don’t think a 29r is a hybrid…….. 😆

i am also gonna be using a shop in edinburgh for a lot of stuff from now on………they are as quick as CRC with their deliveries…. 😉

as for the majority of local shops in leeds baring one……..i will continue to give them a wide berth….cos they do not deserve our hard earned cash.

+1 for Bob at Velocity. Best LBS I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

I use Velocity most of the time, Bob and Dave are good to deal with.

I really don’t what it is with the rest of the bike shops in the area, they’re all really miserable. Tried them all and given up on them.

I actually do use Wheelspin, and like it, but I’m pretty sure that out of all my riding buddies and club mates, there will be only one or two others that ever venture in.
I think I can see why people don’t like it/him, but I’ve always had excellent service, never pay over the odds, and very importantly, if my wife is buying something it is her that gets talked to not me, which is something a lot of bike shops could learn to do.

I cannot stand Wheelspin – I used to ride with the University MTB club and the guys that worked there led it. I used to be a lot fitter then but all they were ever interested in was blasting around at full speed and I struggled to keep up. Whenever they stopped to wait as soon as you came into sight they set off again so you never got a rest. Newbies only ever came on 1 ride and you never saw them again, and I didn’t blame them. Had no skill offroad, I’d catch them up on every downhill as they were too scared!
Every time I’ve been into the shop they’ve been condescending and rude, rubbishing every bike make unless it was one they sold. Never had general use stock e.g £20 headset or similar. I will not spend any money with them and recommend people to stay away.
The bloke in the shop in Halifax was really nice when I went in.
Bob at Velocity is great, that shop is 1/4 mile from my house so it’s ace but I wish he’d get more stock in to browse, he’s very limited on the makes he sells which is a hinderance to me buying more stuff from him. I really wanted to get a bike from them with my recent Cyclescheme but they just couldn’t get what I wanted, even with compromises on my behalf as to spec. Will keep going in though, top guys.
Sowerby Brothers – excellent, bought a bike from them, top guys and up for a chat if there’s no one in.

Aye ton Edinburgh bike in Leeds is a decent shop with an amazing amount of obscure parts in stock , twice I’ve nipped in for odd more like sjs cycles requests and they have checked computer and vanished to the stock room and returned bearing gifts 😉
