The gorrick website says that they had to shorten the course at some point on Sunday due to the conditions, does anyone know when they actually did it? Makes it a bit hard to compare times between categories if you don’t know how far each lot were riding!

I think it happened twice actually – I rode two sections in practice which were cut. Very wierd – seemed to be a constant change and looking at the expert time they must have cut more.

Some of the better condition trails were cut out as well which was a shame.

Good shake up for the new season though – real shock to the legs!

jsinglet: I raced in the Vets Cat yesterday at the Gorricks. We were ment to start at 11am, but they suspended the start for 5mins because of problems out on the course. They then suspended the start for a further 3 mins announcing that this race Cat would be the last to race the full course and any cats after this one would be a racing on a shorter course.

The conditions wern’t great, but not un-ridable. To be honest poor tyre choice let me down as I struggled for front end grip on the twisty down hill stuff and rear wheel grip on the climbs! I saw plenty of people crashing as they struggled to take off speed. I was pleased wiyh my first race of the year and cant wait for the next one.

Thanks, that makes some of the earlier times even more impressive!

I turned up late as usual… when i went to sign in they had no more entry forms… thought i was going to be buggered but they happily let me fill my details out on the back of a flyer!

Was wondering if people were overly wasteful with entry forms or they hadnt anticipated such a huge turn out for them conditions?

    good muddy fun

dont know if expert was cut or not but they cought me up on my last open lap, was a bit anoying tbh as i was still overtaking guys in my cat and i had to keep giving way for the expert cat which if fairly hard to do in all that mud on steep slippy slopes.

didnt have this problem last year?

does it get quieter as the season goes on? seemed to be very busy, lots of bottlenecks. It was my first time, so nothing to compare it with.

no not really, i dont think the mud helped though as the times were a lot slower than they should have been open race should have been over by the start of the experts etc
