I’d love to be proven wrong but I would imagine that you’ll get an email explaining that there was a mistake and that your order will be cancelled. That’s usually what happens when these to-good-to-be-true offers appear on the internet.

In 2005 I saw a brand new top of the range Spesh FSR120 for £1800 from a shop down south, on line. I pounced on it, they tried to give me the flick saying my cards were invalid etc etc but I made them let me do a bank transfer instead. I got the bike – £800 off or something like that.

As I understand it it’s something to do with the Goods For Sale Act (?) the advertised price is the price, no arguments.

But since they haven’t actaully charged your card with the price shown then so far they haven’t sold anything. I’m in anyway, just for the kicks.

does seem liek all everyone’s doing is creating grief for whoever has to send out all the emails saying ‘sorry we made a mistake your card hasn’t been charged’?

its not actualy free, even though you havent paid for it there is still an oppertunity cost.

that being that if you own the jacket you could sell it on ebay, for say £xyz. So by not selling it you are still costing yourself money by owning and using the jacket.

How much would they normally cost?

ah. economics. a customer once informed me that a flat panel monitor was better, despite being unable to properly display the image required to drive our equipment, because it reduced their maintenance costs. this was based on the amount of desk space it took up, because their maintenance costs were determined by the square foot.
obviously i pointed out this madness. they should have been dealing in SI units. marconi BTW. can’t imagine why they went to the wall.

At the moment we are still trying to fix some small issues with the website – this means that currently we cannot sell you any nice things until we have it sorted.

I’m now feeling bad. I put the order in but upon reflection this is rather shabby of me to try to get owt for nowt regardless of legal rights or whatever. It will get bounced no doubt and I won’t challenge….

This is a small business in Edinburgh who have just started online. The have obviously made a mistake. I’ve let them know about this mis-price so please forget trying to order it as it won’t work.

tbc can consider it a nice free destruction testing of their new system.

So you all winge and moan about people not paying for a TV license, but its perfectly ok to try and get free products from a small business because of an error on their website!

Plus, it’s bloomin’ good advertising for a new online bike store trying to get started 🙂

Maybe it was just a publicity stunt. We feel bad so buy from their website to ease the guilt.

Alas as it states on the front page we are unable to sell anything through our website due to a technical problem.

Any payments that are attempted fail and we cannot therefore process orders.

The problem has been with us for some time and we have been working hard to fix it but there are forces at work beyond our control and we are subject to protracted time scales.
