    Hi,

Im currently running a giant trance 0 with pace RC40 XCFR front forks, recently these forks have started to under perform and are in need of a service, lock out has stopped working rebound no longer works, and forks seem to be sticking.

Iv have no problems with them in the past but think its time for a change.
My conundrum is what to replace them with!!

I do most of my riding round Hebden and the surrounding areas, sort of free riding and XC. Im no hard core rider have only be doing it for less than a year but starting to really enjoy technical rides.

I was thinking of replacing them with some Marzocchi 600 ATA2 but on reading reviews they seem a little unreliable.

    Any feedback would be good!!

I had a similar issue – RC41s on my Trance starting to get a bit sticky. I sent them off for a service with new seals, and they’re now as good as new. I’m not sure what you would gain by changing them.

    True!!
Iv had them over a year and they’ve been great.. but iv nothing to compare them with as iv never used any other type of fork. I suppose its cost of service – cost of new forks.

Also where did you them them serviced as i though pace had been bought out.. can u still get them serviced in the uk or do i have to send them direct to pace hq.

I had my LBS do mine – they got the seal kit direct from Pace. Total cost was £100, a lot less than new forks, and new forks would need servicing in a year or two anyway.

On the other hand, if there’s an aspect of your fork’s performance that you dislike (that wouldn’t be fixed with a service) then it might be worth a change.

’08 zocchis to present are ASS. (through the experiences of various friends, running various different forks)

    ive gone with 426 Revs.

100, climbs like a dream 130, descends like a dream, 115, a nice balanced middle ground for when you cant be arsed to twiddle the knob

if i wanted more fit and forget forks i would look for some 120mm mxcomps…
could be tempted with pikes/new revs, for bolt throughyness, but i think 140mm would be too much length, so they would be almost permenantly wound down a bit

Yea my current pace forks are 100-140 and its just to high when fully out messes up the geomaty.

Talking of geomaty the spec for my bike says not to go above 5% of ur recomended fork lenght, my bike says 100mm so max should be 105mm maybe thats why the bike feels a little unsteady sometimes any ideas on this or is it just down the ur riding stile….

Those 426 Revs look good… but there 110-140???
    Dual air the future then?

My Trance came with 100mm forks but I thought the geometry was much improved with the 130mm Pace RC41s. If anything, increasing the fork length should make it more rather than less steady, as it makes the head angle slacker.

The only problem I found is keeping the front wheel on the ground for very steep climbs, but I get around that by using the launch control to compress the fork down.

mass welded frame like that (with the stupid 7″ headtube that comes on my xl too) will have no problems strength wise, if you change the geometry, its up to you if you think its better or worse.

new revs are basicly old pikes but lighter, thicker stantions and up to 140.

mine are the 08 ones, regular qr dropouts, narrower stantions

Seem the problem i have with the damp/Launch Control not working is due to the forks not been primed….. the problem started after storing the bike upside down for a few days.
Found a Q&A on the topic and have been though the priming process this seems to of fixed the problem.. Doh!!!
Think they still need a service soon tho.
Thanks for the info tho guys… gunna stay with the pace and use the damp/launch control better. Never really changed the settings much, maybe that ull help with the steadyness :0
