What no romantic story line for the Hound and the tall blonde lassie ? You have ruined it for me.

I don’t know why I read these threads I don’t have cable TV, guess I will have to pay the money and watch it online.

I’m fickle, I’ll drop them faster than GM does, though browsing GoT meme’s is getting funny

We don’t know who Snow’s mother is.

    He could be a Targaryen

Anyone notice the fire part when the White walker wlked through it? Does that mean they are impervious to fire and maybe Dragons breath?!
Bran (the other Stark kid) hasnt featured all series, last seen having some training from inside a tree… His clairvoyance skills might be handy with control of the Dragons?

Haven’t read the books, but from what I gather they have now separated from them and could be making it up as they go along…….

Good job there are two (possibly three) valyrian swords that can kill white walkers, now they have left the **** dragon glass behind.

Maybe dragon fire is different from normal fire?

Reckon Bran’s off becoming one of those children of the trees or what ever they’re called and therefore will be useful against the White Walkers.

    A given surely.

Targaryen steel and dragon glass all rare because they were made with dragon fire .. and now 3 dragons pop into the world just as it’s threatened by creatures who can only be killed with dragony things.. coincidence?

But the way this pans out, equally likely the dragons will get stuffed in a (big) sack and drowned in the river.

too early for the episode 9 debrief??

Thought that one was going to turn to filler/setup until the end, that escalated quickly 😮
Sort of feel the need for a who do you think would be the least worst on the iron throne text vote

1/ it’s building to a massive climax; 2/ they don’t go the same way as other epic series and just keep stringing

Hmm gave up on the books – at end of book 3 (which is book 4 really) as I couldn’t face another 500 pages of dull plotlines with characters I don’t care about waiting for the 100 pages of interest.

Seems series 5 is going the same way as the book. The TV series up until series 4 had been ticking along quite nicely, especially compared to the books.

Still, as far as grimdark fantasy goes give me Robin Hobb, Joe Abercrombie, Scott Lynch or Mark Lawrence before George RR Martin any day.

So as I was watching last night my internal monologue went something like this:

“They’re not really going to do that are they?”

“I mean really a child, someone will save her.”

“Who am I kidding its Game of Thrones”

    “Oh! look a dragon!”

Well they had to top the rape scene somehow…..

yeah that scene was a new low for the show. fair enough kill her off for the storyline but an onscreen terrified, screaming, burning CHILD was a bit too gratuitous even for GoT! never really got over it, even when the episode got properly ace in the fighting pits of Meereen; i just kept thinking ‘Stannis just barbecued his daughter’… id sooner Cersi prevail over him now!

But apparently all in a good cause as the snow melts next episode and they ride for winterfell.

Wonder how the Onion Knight is going to take having his favourite ‘niece’ turned into a kebab.

Awesome episode. I did not appreciate the screams of a dying child as she was bbq’d though. Stannis really has gone past the point of no return now, I’m quite looking forward to seeing the Baratheons and Boltons wipe each other out in the battle of Winterfell.

Was it just me that found it too implausible that a whole army would watch an innocent child burn and do nothing, not even a peep?

Hmm I thought that, but then the ones that are left are all effectively religious fanatics for the lord of light,

I can respect the way that they have dealt with some of the tough stuff, it’s not pulling punches and it really defining some of the characters and to what lengths they will go to. The scenes were done in a non sensationalist way. Considering what has gone before it’s going to be interesting going forward 🙂

I mostly decided it wasn’t a show for me after Jaime threw Bran out a window in the first episode!

    So yeah…

The trouble is that scene didn’t even shock me anymore, disturb and unsettle me yes but not shock.

When they marched Ned Stark out for his execution I was sure it wouldn’t happen, that shocked me

Within the world of GoT burning children alive isn’t all that surprising

The Game of Thrones coverage on Grantland.com is worth a read.

After last weeks episode, they had a lot to live up to and child burning aside I think they just about managed to meet expectations.

Dragon riding, Tyrion quips, Bronn and a decent beheading. 7/10.

The dragon ending was a massive cheesefest deus-ex-machina. Poor show.

    Next weeks looks promising though.

Really? Given the medieval world setting… I found it fairly unsurprising.

Children are still killed for use in preparation of muti medicine.

Unfortunately, I felt this was always going to happen at some point. I won’t let it spoil my enjoyment of the series but I do agree it was a bit cheesy.

Did the girl get burnt in the book? I really can’t remember 😕 You knew something mad was going to happen when the women stated there’d be “distressing scenes”!

Had my doubts about George for some time and this clearly confirmed he’s never been a parent of a daughter, I can’t imagine any father would condemn his little girl to death by fire in any circumstance.

But it continues to shock and why the series has been so successful and did you see the way she rode that dragon?

Sparks will have to fly next week.

I can’t imagine it either, but (without wanting to be too much of a downer) these horrific things still happen in real life in the present day, never mind in fantasy Medieval Land Fun-Time World.

Who are the guys in the gold masks and when did the Unsullied become so rubbish and where are they all? she bought loads of them.

Still love it though, bring back the Hound.

I don’t think Stannis’s actions shocked me as much as Carol in the Walking Dead dealing with Lizzie, that really threw me.

yep, father vs daughter is all too common around the world, fathers are not universally brilliant or infallible.

gold mask dudes are the son’s Sons of Harpy. kindda like the ISIS of Mereen. terrorists who oppose Danny, angry with her for abolishing slavery and such.
The Unsullied army were not present. it was supposed to be a nice cup final type gladitorial event, she just had a handful there as security… no idea why they were so shit all of a sudden tho…

Just an insurgency/resistance movement opposed to her rule I think. The unsullied haven’t impressed so far.
I liked the dragon bit, it was cheesy but she is the mother of dragons so it can’t be unexpected that one drops by to lend a hand every now and again. She’ll be needing them if she wants kings landing.
