Is it just me, or is it getting really boring?

I’ve watched it from the start, and now it seems each week very little actual happens. Plenty is hinted at, but nothing of note occurs. 10 week series – 7 weeks in and very dull so far….

I haven’t read the books are they the same?

I’ve not read the books but I think they’re even worse according to sweamrs who has…. whole characters who appear; get extensively written about and then die / fade away without really affecting the plot lines.

Yeah, really feels like they’re spinning it out. Lots of programs go that way though, currently working our way through series 4 of the Walking Dead. I really hope they wrap it up at the end of 5. (no spoilers please)

Nah, I’m enjoying it at the mo – tonight’s was good in so much as they’re clearly building up to something – probably an extraordinarily bloody final episode.

All good series go through the doldrums simetimes. Especially Walking Dead!

Does seem slower than the other series, or possibly that we’re watching this one at the normal rate of 1 episode a week, the others we watched several episodes a week.

Likewise not read the books, but feel the same. However I understand the series has caught up too quick with the books and to continue they’re having to pad it out and make stuff up as he hasn’t written the next book yet. Also heard it might go off on a different plot line from the books.

It’s still good, but slow going now. That said, some books get like that. Wheel of Time got too detailed and plodding, I got bored of reading them. Then the writer died but they still managed to churn out some more.

The books started good, but now they’re pretty awful. sweamrs has it spot on. The series is happy to go offpiste and mostly seems to be better for it though.

@Deadkenny- Brandon Sanderson pulled off a kind of miraculous injury time goal for wheel of time, he didn’t just give it a good ending, he actually saved some of the terrible storylines from the later Jordan ones. Frankly anyone who likes game of thrones should be plotting to kill George RR Martin, so that Sanderson can come oft the bench and make it all better.

I agree – the latest season has gone off the boil… I haven’t watched this weeks yet, but last weeks (particularly the fight scenes in dorne) looked like wobbly 70s TV.

Feels like we are getting quite a lot of filler

Not watched any but read them all. There was a step change a couple of times, like the stories were almost starting again as they introduced new scenarios and new characters. I don’t know where the story is on the box but the books ebb and flow and I cant wait for the next one to come out.

Think I’d heard that the current series has passed the books, so the writers can make it up as they go along.

lost its way completely this series, storyline jumps about all over place and nothing of value happens in each episode.. i blame the queen.. never been the same since she auditioned for a part.. when is she on?

I get the feeling that the end of the last series lined a lot of things up, all slow burners that needed to be fleshed out with 4 episodes to go it’s hard to see which will go. All in though there will be some more war and that should spice things up a bit.

maybe this series as a whole been a bit slow compared to previous ones (its still x10 better than anything else on tv) but last nights episode was one of the greatest i thought!

I’m not watching season 5 (yet). Will get round to it at some point.

The books are bloody awful. I can’t remember the last time I read anything so badly written and I’m 100% convinced the reason for characters appearing then disappearing is that George is making it up as he goes. None of this planning out the whole saga in advance JK Rowling style, just make it up as you go and bollocks to narrative structure.

I’ve loved the TV series, but the basic material really does need someone else to whip it into shape.

I just watched episode 4 season 5 and blew me away again. It’s brilliant!

    Is that Jon Snow? 😯

This series isn’t as frenetic as previous ones and Dragon Lady is a bit dull.

Have we seen the Stark lad who can’t walk yet this series?

    Still enjoying it though.

It does seem to amble along a bit.

I like it but I wonder if our high expectations of it are sorta self screwing us.

WOT – how many books did that end up – good material for a series although tbh if you asked me the plot I don think i could explain it 🙁

Bran isnt in the whole series I dont think and what happend to Rickon and most importantly what happed to Arya’s direwolf?

I loved the series 1-4 so much that I could not wait to see what happened, so I read the next book ( I have the next one after that ready to start )

It definitely read like he was making it up on the fly, when I did see series five I thought the script writers tidied up the story well, but agree it is slower pace than the first 4 series.

Still the best thing on TV by a mile,

Around this point the books switch from a woven together plot line to more or less following one storyline at a time so he’s run out of material in some parts and they’ve rewritten other parts completely.

Still enjoying it, but its harder to watch one per week than 1-2 per night on demand like we were whilst waiting for season 5.
    Things im waiting for
    1. A F-off big battle in the snow at Winterfell between Stannis and the Boltons.
    2. Greyjoy killing off the bstard son of Bolton Snr (who is getting up there alongside Joffery in being an evil S-O-B)
    3. More of the imp.

That whole crew are sitting this one out (him, Hordor and the brother and sister). I can’t remember why, possibly because the kid has got exams or something (seriously) or because they’ve tried to cut down on characters / groups for a bit as it’s getting hard to follow.

I suspect, now freed from needing to sort of follow the books they’ll consolidate the cast a bit, so many factions, so many stories, sometimes it’s hard to follow it.

Anyway, only 2-3 episodes left, the bodies are bound to start piling up soon.

I don’t know, I reckon Brienne is going to go medieval on Winterfell and Ramsay in particular very soon.

Having ploughed through the books, I’m pleased the series is diverting from ‘canon’ and running its own version. I’ll read the 6th when (if) it comes out, but it’s becoming a bit of a mess, too many ideas and threads that I can’t see pulling together well.

    4. Reek finally snapping and stabing Ramsay in the back while he is beating Sansa

    5. Arya turning into a face changing ninja assasin

    6. More of her:

I’m half way through season 4 and loving it. I found the interactive map[/url] the other day and it was hard to resist pushing the slider all the way to the right to find out where all the characters end up 🙂

yeah I’d echo the sentiments above, the varied plot lines are a bit pedestrian this series. The whole Arya plotline is frankly boring – i was sick of it last week.

I specifically agree with point 6 that llama made 🙂 but I was wondering where the Gendry kid has gone? as the potential heir to the throne i thought he would feature more heavily than he has.

i think the whole high sparrow thing could either be really good or total garbage too.

My one big gripe is that the title sequence goes on and on and on and on and on

Dwarf’s cock is the current go to phrase amongst the GoT geeks in the office.

    Off with Cersei’s head.

Hmm. Lots of slow burners in this series. 3 episodes to tie it all up though, plenty of time.

Well, only 2 if previous series are anything to go by, the big budget episode was #9 in most of them, with #10 being epilogue.

That whole crew are sitting this one out (him, Hordor and the brother and sister). I can’t remember why,

It’s because it’s all incredibly dull. George lost interest in Bran, so he could work on <spoiler redacted> for about 10000 words, then lost interest in <spoiler redacted> too and just <spoiler redacted> in the space of 2 paragraphs. The fanny.

Completely underwhelmed with this season. I’d rather watch be watching Vikings or Black Sails.
