My son has one of these he picked up at a boot fair for 25p or something.

at the time i thought it was unusual but just had a look online and people seem to collect them.

Would you take it away from his dozens of other modern cars and keep it safe somewhere or let him trash it? I think I should save this one as it is a really well made thing 🙂

I guess it’s like a lot of toy/small items, unless it’s got the original packaging, and has no marks on it then it may aswell be played with. Get value in enjoyment rather than worth.

as above if it hasnt got the box and isnt flawless then it wont be worth much.

(after just trying to sell lots of old matchbox, Corgi, lesney toy cars on ebay a few months ago)

my dad kept all his toys as a child in boxes, he is selling them off now and they are worth loads.

OK its not flawless and there is certainly no box for it.

Seems a shame for it to be destroyed though.

Just see how much that one on ebay goes for, if its more than a fiver I will be surprised.

Even if something has a value now from collectors who says that it will be collectable in 5/10/20 years?

I have found this out this year. I have collected comics to a degree since being a pre-teen. I had/have some that in comic circles are supposedly worth quite a few quid. No Fantastic Four #1 but certainly in the tens of pounds. Try and actually sell though. I’ve got a few quid for some but nowhere near what “listed” prices suggest. On the other hand I had some of the early free Rapha mailings/brocures. A5, typical nice arty pics, less than 10 pages. I stuck em on eBay as an act of desperation/see what I’d get. Was thinking maybe a quid or 2 for each. Got £20+ for one of them and got close to £100 for the set of ten in the end.

Value (money) is in the eye (and pocket) of the buyer. Let your son play with it, it’ll never make you rich, whereas some fun for the lad may.
