Front mechs & mud clearance

‘Conventional’ they look less likely to trap mud as all the bracketry is far as poss from the bottom bracket and chainstay bridge.
Thinking of my next trip to Catton park and if this type will give me a few extra yards before I have to stop and pick out the quagmire I’ll go for one.

My current one does seem a mud trap, I’ve often found stones have settled down there and trapped more mud.

I’ve got one of those top bracket type ones and it copes just fine with mud n’ that

conventional definitley better for mud and try to get one for your seatpost size without a reducer if possible (most current ones have a large clamp and you add reducers to fit your frame, this is an extra surface for mud to stick to)
