whats everybody got to say about these then? cant quite afford the R1’s 🙁

but i was in a shope today, looking at lapierres, and had a feel of the brakes, jesus, the lever feels amazing, really comfortable, and super smooth, with a cracking bite point and hardly any travel in the lever (well enough for me)…they really really really did feel quite superb just to feel…

my xt’s now actually feel quite wooden in comparison, and the lever felt right too….

anywhere to get these on a good offer? also what is it like for getting spares? hose shortening kits etc, as i will definitely need to do the rear (through the swingarm)….is bleeding easy?

any pics appreciated too….more advice than anything though 🙂

I’ve got them on my Zesty and they are superb, I’m a big chap and the do a top job a stopping me, pads are easily changed.

I like the levers too the only thing with them is they are a bit rattley on rough descents but never bothered me.

There’s some for sale in classifieds 😉

I’ve heard mixed reports from the rotors being rubbish and most noisy (first hand off a mate) to somewhat lacking in power in the wet in the mag when they tested 140mm full sussers

I’ve got them on my new Zesty and have been really impressed. Having previously been running Hope Tech M4’s these feel way more powerful.

Another Zesty here with RX. Impressed with them, though also have the rattling levers on faster descents. Find that a bit distracting, but once I get enough speed up I find that having to concentrate on not mashing my useless old bones into a tree usually does a good job of taking my mind off it. If you can find some for a good price probably worth a try?

sounding good, wouldnt mind hearing problems too, but if its all good then thats better…

what about hose kits?? are they readily available? as i said ill defo need to shorten the rear hose regardless, so thats a bit of a worry if i cant get a kit to do it?

any cheap european shops with them? those german/french/italian sites etc?

Been running them on my spicy for over a year now and so far so good. Very happy with them, powerful enough for my 14.5st and good modulation. Never had to bleed em yet so can’t help you with that. I’ve got away with shortening hoses on previous brakes without having to do a bleed afterwards though, so you may get away with it. Just get new barbs etc to refit the hose to the caliper.

Had a set of R1s for two years, great brakes, highly recomended. So good I just bought a second set for the spare bike.
There are a few deals around if you hunt hard enough so don’t let the price put you off. With Ti bolts I paid £365 for a pair with IS adaptors for both ends (solid rotors though, upgraded to Hope floaters as the Formula floaters from my first set now float a bit too much, my only critism of them)

I’ve posted my experiences before, and just updated it with last nights adventures.

I’m getting more impressed as I use them and get used to them. Fantastically light and powerfull, and rather cheap for what I paid (removed from a Lapierre and sold to me by someone on here).

Had them on my Sunn for a year – no problems yet. They replaced XTs. Powerful, lovely lever feel, good modulation, good weight, great looks. Bit spensive, but what the heck. Silverfish are now distributing so spares should be ok.

I prefer them in all respects – even Formula’s build quality is ok these days!
