    I’ve seen one of those companies that convert one of the electronic groupsets to run a fully automatic gear change.

    Would you want it on your bike?

    My opinion;

    road bike YES
    mountain bike NO

    No why would you? Loads more stuff to improve performance than auto changes IMHO

    Neither. How would it know what your comfortable power / cadence output would be throughout the ride? It’s ok with an engine – you know at 2500 rpm @ 30% throttle it’ll take gear x.

    I can’t see how that can work on a bicycle.

    As hot-fiat says how would it no when to change gear.

    You can cycle at 40rpm or 85rpm but still be comfortable. What if you want to spin a low year quickly to help up a step climb but the bike then decides to change up a gear but then you can’t peddle the next gear ratio?

    Too many variables I’m afraid.
