I’d like to get myself an electric chainsaw. I’ve got a nice petrol Stihl but it’s noisy & I don’t wish my neighbours to get hacked off. There are times when I’ll have to us the petrol saw but I guess I could use an electric one about 75 % of the time. It’ll be used for cutting up tree trunks prior to splitting for firewood.

Stihl make electric saws but they cost a packet. So I need something robust that I can get parts for when they wear out.

    Recommendations from users please 8)

    TIA, Dave.

Not used the electric chainsaw I have yet, 12 months on after having it donated to me. Should build the fire I guess. But I have a bosch one that seems to work fine with its previous owner and they usually have lots of spares handy.

I’ve got a Bosch one and a petrol one. The Bosch is far better, obviously goes away when it rains!!

    Husquvarna 321EL (2kW)

Chopped about 10 tonne so far and still going strong!!!

My Neighbor has also got a 2kW Makita one which seems just as adequate!

being a skinflint I got a lecky one from Lidl or Aldi for £50 and its a tad heavy but has ripped throught the ton or so I have chopped into 8″ logs. It’s quite quiet and no smelly 2 stroke and as I use it with a log horse from Machine mart really easy to use

Each to there own I guess. I like the smell 😀

(no complaints form my neighbours either. I actually get work from them sometimes for my sawing skills :O)

take a look at reciprocating saws. about 100 quid, quiet, speed variable, easy to control and light. throw the blade away and buy new when you’re done. my hitachi will cut up to 300mm. try screwfix.
