I’m sure I’ve done this wrong but this is what’s happening.
Bought a reconditioned cooker, ‘excellent condition’ turns up and it’s not excellent at all. Seller promises to sort it, I get it installed (yep) and it doesn’t work either.
He agrees to refund and it goes back.
So far I’ve had nearly half the money, and he wants to pay the rest next week (2 weeks after he had it back).
I’ve waved goodbye to £100 in installation but he owes me a grand.
All conversations been through eBay, but I didn’t officially return it through eBay (I did then closed the case as he said he was sorting it)
I paid with PayPal credit, so no money has left my pocket yet.
How do I force him through PayPal or eBay to cough up the rest?
    Thanks.
    I know I’m an idiot.

Have you got evidence the seller has received it back? If so just open another case with eBay.

Just as oceanskipper says, you can just open another case with eBay.
Maybe under a different reason, but that doesn’t really matter. You’re fully protected then

Only the conversation, and it’s pretty clear he has it.
    Thanks.

Yeah I know, it’s a £6k new semi industrial jobbie. Wanted one for ever, and sadly it’s not for the likes of me. £2k is still cheaper than you know what and will get used more and I have to look at it, and it won’t break my bones or have a flat tyre.
Saying that I won’t be looking at this one.
£2k is what, 4 months payment on a car for some people, or a coffee making set up for others.

Having gone to all that trouble (installing etc) I would probably have got a quote for getting it fixed and asked the seller for a partial refund.

    Bit late now though.

Oceanskipper, yeah I know, it was an option but I just lost confidence in it and it’s ’excellent condition’.

Open eBay case though and get them to sort it out. Hope you get your money back. Seller sounds like a right arse.
