Is there any really easy editing software for gopro?

My idea of what I want to do is pick a song, then just kind of cut and paste the more interesting bits of the footage I have till it fills the runtime up. And this will be for scubadiving footage from a holiday I am taking in a couple of weeks, not sick edits of rad bike riding.

This is just mainly for my own memories and maybe to share with friends if I get some really good footage. I don’t dive through a lens, so I also don’t want to spend a lot of time learning professional level software, but I am willing to pay for an application that makes life simple and gives better results than the free applications. And preferably to run on windows.

Microsoft Clipchamp may well be already installed if you have a newer windows laptop, and it does simple things for me, as per your requirements. I find it easy to drag and drop my clips into a ‘timeline’ and then overlay a song etc on the same timeline.
I know there are much more involved programmes but this may be what you are after.

Yeah, Clipchamp very intuitive and satisfying and you can even get a wee bit creative e.g. I found it quite easy to add a funny wee special effect when I swore to the camera.

If you want to upload decent quality to YouTube you might need to pay the £10 a month, without it the uploads looked terrible.

I use Corel video for these on a std lap top. I find some of the others just need too much memory and have too many features. I think it was a one off £45 offer too rather than a monthly subscription like Adobe insists on. Works well Upton 4k. Recently got a hero 12 but haven’t tried 5.7k yet but I think that would overwhelm the version of Corel video I have. 5.7k isn’t necessary for YouTube anyway.

I’ve been using kdenlive. Works well but do need to read the extensive documentation for a few things. It’s open source.

I’m using Linux, I don’t know if it works on Windows.

I’ve not used it myself but I do see Capcut recommended a lot and is free with watermarks.

I use Filmora which I find easy to use and happy enough to pay for it.

I use Shotcut. Free and cross platform. Probably a bit feature heavy for what you want.
Clipchamp will see you right. There an online version of you don’t have it as part of Windows.
Don’t GoPro do their own editing app? That does automatic/AI edits for you? Sure some riding mates use that.

Yes – GoPro Quik. It’s not a bad editing app on the iPhone, as it can combine footage from GoPro with phone video, and will import music and do an ‘autoedit’ which you can then tidy up. I found it reasonably straightforward to get to grips with it, and will often use it for work social media content, rather than faffing about with laptop/DaVinci Resolve. The Quik app is optimised for posting to social media, so it’s pretty straightforward to save the edited video and output it to the likes of Instagram and so on.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I hate doing anything on my phone, other than checking emails and weather etc I don’t even like watching youtube on my phone, or accessing this forum, never mind trying to edit videos. I really can’t fathom how so many people can accept the limitations of such small screens for doing anything other than quick basic tasks.
