I’ve just bought a frame with a 68mm bb shell, want to take the HTII bb off my 73mm shell Orange 5, surely now my crank axle is 5mm too long… do I need to add a spacer or something? Can you buy such a thing?

you do need some more spacers – the shimano site has the document explaining how many spacers and which side of the bb they go. your lbs may be able to help with spare spacers (you’ll probably need 3 in total).

If you buy the cranks seperately, you get 3 spacers with them so they can be set for any BB width. If they came fitted to that bike with the 73mm shell, there’ll only be one fitted (The Orange should just have one spacer on the drive side) so you’ll need 2 more, yes.
    LBS should have some
You’ll probably need 2 on the drive side and one on the other side with the narrower BB.

    🙂
