As above, are the two items below compatible?

I have a 5 year old pair of dual control levers and bought a new XT rapid rise rear mech. However, I am not sure if it matters that they are a different generation of Shimano product line.

Shimano Derailleurs – MTB Rear XT Rear Mech Rapid Rise 9sp M770 SGS – Long Cage

Shimano Brakes Disc Spares LX Disc Brake Levers Dual Control M585 Pair L&R – Levers Only

Feel free to rip the pizzle out of dual controls.

    Yep absolutely fine.

The only Shimano mechs that won’t work with those shifters are 10 speed MTB ones.

+1 I’ve got an old pair of LX dual control and a Deore mech from.last year and they work a treat. dual control is ace, I thought they’d be really awkward but are really intuitive.
