Just been out for a spin round the Cairngorms on my cutthroat with my winter gear on and it’s highlighted that my set up at the front isn’t great.

20l.alpkit dual ended  drylock from years gone by that fills the space between shifters meaning I can only shift one gear at a time.

Mounted in a wildcat lion that doesn’t really mount well to my bars and resultantly flaps.about alot….so I stole the wifes alpkit kanga and it was only.marginally better.

I’ve got 44cm woodchippers with grx 810 shifters and the kicker -a pair of use aero extensions on a Fred bar. -so I can’t do the standard thing of lifting the bag higher.

Has anyone use the restrap “aero” race bag or similar ? Where the bag sits perpendicular to the bars.

Concerned about the effects of the weight being farther from the pivot point -but may be they counteract that by starting  under the stem rather than entirely Infront of the bars

Bar bag carries my sleep system so more bulk than weight but still noticeable.

Strap the alpkit dry bag parallel to the aero extensions and see how it feels?

edit – might need a smaller bag but may not work if you need all of your sleeping kit in there…

After putting up with narrow* bags that didn’t quite work,I have now gone for a long front rack with a dry bag strapped in line.

I like having space on the bars again.

    * because of my bar/levers choice
